Mass Kobo thread, 248 / 433 / 394 / 465

So I do think it leans too bright and forward with the sarda, but the crassi does sound nice, would indeed be a step up from the p6p

Guess I have another addition to my wishlist now lol

Honestly Iā€™d rather suggest you move up from the crassi or sarda before you went after something like this tbh, I think you might get more benefit from that since you already have a really solid dap to take care of them and Iā€™m not sure if you would get the full benefit of the mk on a sarda or crassi

Phew, my wallet is relieved (for now). The P6P truly is a worthwhile investment

has anyone here tried good PSUs with the 428 yet? Im kinda currious if there is any point going with something more than an ifi-power for it. Ive been using iems at my desk a lot lately and its kinda nice to plug ti in but the little usb brick im using right now is pretty shitty

Gunna bump the above question. Ive been using my 428 at the desk quite a bit recently and all of my crappy little USB bricks give auditable noise artifacting in one way or another. The power at work is pretty shit noise wise

By bricks do you mean like power supplies into a wall or battery powered portable chargers?

bricks into a wall. I am currently using a couple portable chargers I had laying around but thats still pretty massively inconvenient tbh

It does perform better with a nicer psu if you are going from the wall, so Iā€™d def look into nicer options. Iā€™d consider trying something like an ifi ipower x or allo shanti lps, those are more reasonably priced options that sounded good for me, although I donā€™t have any other psu to test with outside of some really higher end overkill ones lol. Although if power is bad enough for work, it may require more filtering

I am somewhat expecting to need to buy a power conditioner, but figured I would start here in hopes it just my $5 4-pack of phone usb chargers that are the issue. I think I may actualy be able to snag an ipower X from a friend for a few days so ill try strartin there

Just heard from mimic cables that he is now the official us distributor for mass kobo (including 465). Gunna be super nice to have some more actual us availability. Will also be currious to see what an adjusted US price list looks like tbh. Figured I would let everyone know since I know importing being required has held back the brant a lot

Hype as hell tbh

The 394ii for 5850 is much more interesting imo :man_shrugging:

So it looks like the new 475 is more just a slight update, only adding a type c instead of micro b? Pages on his site look somewhat identical, but itā€™s clear he copy pasted it for the most part lol. But Iā€™d assume if thatā€™s all he decided to update on the page it was similar enough?

Yes. Itā€™s my understanding that it was purely a port change and nothing else

Glad, now I donā€™t have to wait to buy one lol

Not sure whatā€™s going on, but MASS-Kobo products have disappeared from Mimic. Getting a 404.

I believe I read somewhere that MK canā€™t fulfill any American orders this year so it was pulled temporarily until something could be done. He also has some major supply issues (thereā€™s a comment about that on his website) so maybe that has something to do with it too

Lol took me a second to realize you were talking about the website, I thought you were getting an older portable, the mass kobo 404 lol

I guess itā€™s better that they take it down rather than leave it up and not fulfill orders, but that sucks
