For all Luxman headphone amps
It looks like it belongs on a fine scientific measuring instrument.
Just announced.
[A few years later] and when I move to a new home, I have a feeling that I will consolidate to less boxes again and have a Luxman integrated.
I know a guy out in Arizona who is a Luxman dealer and would be worth speaking to when the time comes to at least get a feel for “best” dealer pricing…
I feel like Luxman engineers everything to peak performance. Every button, every knob looks and what I assume to feel, perfect.
Yep, every piece on each component is Japanese perfection…Same for Shindo…mmm Shindo…lol . And i can say the Nagra pieces too…i was so torn on those 3 when i was making my big amp purchase… my dealer finally forced the issue and pushed the Vinny Rossi on me for the extra power and because the DHT tubes in the pre-amp section gave me all the sweetness i wanted along with much more wattage ultimately, because he knew i would be using a vast variety of speakers because i refused to settle on just one expensive pair and insisted on multiple cheaper options of speakers all at various sensitivity levels and varied designs
It’s not a bad place to wind up, especially when you realized that you can 1) get nearly 100% of your existing investment back (if you bought wisely) and 2) you know exactly what you like and put together a fully synnergized next tier chain that you mostly funded with the stuff you sold off.
You know a guy… for everything.
Just thought I’d link my old review of the p750u when I had it. I definitely enjoyed it when I had it but felt like it was just too expensive for a headphone setup. I can see for those people who absolutely must have the best consider this because it sounded great with everything I threw at it (didn’t have Sus at the time)
I also had the L550ax ii at one point in time and it did a respectable job with the headphone amp for dynamic headphones. The only bad pairing was with the Focal Utopia due to their low impedance since the OI of the luxman was super high. I tried using the speaker taps on it for Senns and ETA headphones but felt like the headphone out was good enough and didn’t have any noise. Sus/stealth/power hungry planars were the only ones I felt like the speaker taps worked well with. A early version of the HD800 also sounded pretty insane when it came to bass impact off the speaker tap as well.
