LTA thread, MZ2 / MZ3 / Z10 / Z40 / Ultralinear

I think so, but I guess it’ll depend on the performance of the new unit. With those prices, that’s fairly close to what you can get them used for give or take a few hundred

I think that Velo looks better than the MZ2. If they hid the screws on top or gave it a brushed finish it would kick ot up a bit with little effort.

I agree. I think it looks better. I like seeing the tubes. It’ll be interesting to see if they tweak the mz3

I reached out to LTA and they’ll have a couple of pre-release Velos at CAF next week.

The way they described it in the email, the Velo appears to be a better sounding head-phone only version of the MZ2. It should be treated as an upgrade from an audio quality perspective but it won’t output any more power than a MZ2. They mentioned that more headphone amps are on the way, using the same form factor.

The HP market is strong and only getting stronger in the audio industry.

The rep at this table indicated the amp is still in prototype, there were about 3 of them on various tables hosted by LTA.

Looks like the CanJam 15% discount code (CAF23) works on Velo pre-orders for any early adopters out there.

Also is LTA still working with Fern & Roby? Their case designs seems different on their newer products.

I think this is a means to save some $. I bet that their higher end DAC design (upcoming) will feature a Fern & Roby design.

I can’t tell about the DAC since it was part of a chain when I heard it at CAF last weekend but I also wasn’t hearing anything that grabbed me by the collar and made me pay attention. I think most of what I was hearing was the spacial presentation of the open back speakers it was paired to.

They are still going to have the brass touch sensitive buttons as the HP amplifier had them.

I’m still searching and interested in one…

I remember that there were two DACs being demoed. I’m assuming this is the lower tier version at $3600.

They could be using Fern & Roby for the higher end version. I do hope that they don’t drop them as I love their designs/implementation with LTA.

I asked them at CAF and they told me that they’ll still be using Fern & Roby, but it will depend on the model.

My interpretation is that their budget (i.e. not as expensive as their other stuff) gear will use in-house cases because it’s cheaper and their premium gear will use F&B.

Wow, thanks for sharing, I’ve been out and about all day. Lemme go check it out. We do have to tell Steve about the 69 volume setting though.

Is it set to home theater mode?

No, I changed the led color. Harder to see in the light I had to have on for the video. The SE inputs are red.

A sad day in Mudville. I let go of the UL+ amp. The Voxativ are a better dance partner with the F8, it was obvious so the decision isn’t one that was difficult to make.

What do we want? SYNERGY! When do we want it? NOW!

I was really happy with how much I got the UL+ to lean my way with tubes, cables etc. but in the end, it’s hard to beat natural synergy.
