Been using my LPGT Ti more recently, I forgot how awesome of a dap it really is. UI is infinitely better than L&P stuff, sound wise it’s the 2nd best I’ve heard, built like a tank, and overall just pairs well with anything I throw at it. I’d probably take the Ti over the normal P6, but the Pro just feels like a step ahead once more. But really thought if I hadn’t heard the pro, this would be my top dap easily, and from a usability perspective it is the top
I have always been antsy to try the LPGT line. From all that ive read, and all that i see, i think it would be similar to and share what i like about cowons. The LTPGs seem to have that hard focus on audio quality but while being a bit more on this side of the decade. UI, and connectivity look to be much more modern where the cowons all have the same aged (but capable) hardware and design language. A lot more similarities as you go down the list as well.
@Towa how has the PT been?
Hey @j.fopps , Merry Christmas! Are you still using the 6K? I have been poking around looking for an upgrade from my Hiby R6Pro. Are you still happy with sound quality?
Dang, just saw that you sold the unit @j.fopps . May I ask why and what did you replace it with? I am looking for sound quality first; not concrned with streaming. Thanks for any feedback you might provide. Thanks!
What’s your budget? A recommendation of LP P6 Pro may fit this bill quite nicely. No streaming, but TOTL natural sound
I got the 6k very soon before the hiby rs6 was released iirc. The rs6 intrigued me so I bought it and picked it over the 6k at the time, but later regretted selling the 6k if I’m being honest. I found that the rs6 required warmup to sound it’s best and for me personally that was a inconvenience that turned me off from using it.
Thanks for the reply @j.fopps , much appreciated. @Veritas , looking at 2k-ish or less to be honest. The LP P6Pro looks fantastic but a little pricey. I use my DAPs (with iems) exclusively on the go (walking, hiking, travelling, etc.). Love my music but hesitate to spend much more than that. I did see that Musictek has the Lotoo Gold Touch on sale for 2k… So tempted!
The used ones are really getting down there. The last 5 I’ve seen were all under 2k.
Imo, if you don’t mind the interface, it’s the no brain dap with a 2k budget
What are in general solid full sized headphones worth trying with LPGT?
I might have a chance to attend small headphone show where I can try stuff from abyss, audio technica meze audeze dca and was wondering what could give reasonable good impression.
It seems like source chains there will be topping level so that’s why I am worried lol
I think both my Utopia and HD800s work decent off of the LPGT… I’m gonna take a wild guess and say out of the brands you mentioned; abyss, audeze, and dca probably won’t work very well on it, just from a power perspective those brands tend to have very power hungry planars. I think meze and AT are likely to sound pretty good though
I have been racking my brain over the last week about getting a dap and kinda narrowed it down to LPGT (normal or Ti) or Sony WM1Z (maybe M2). I have Andro 2020 and just picked up Sony IER Z1R and don’t intend on going down IEM rabbit hole further for a while. I don’t intend on using the dap too much in the house but it would be nice if could drive my HD800S/Grado 3000x and Auteur/Eikon reasonably well for bedroom listening or if I ever decide to take Eikons in the office.
I don’t see much discussion on the Sony dap in the forum so I assume they are either not very well received here or not many people have tried them. I was interested in them thinking it’ll have good synergy with the Sony IEMs.
Also is the Ti version of the LPGT very different from the no Ti version? There is one of each listed on HF for $1600 and $2650 right now. So the question is whether the Ti version is worth $1k more?
Oh, and I don’t really care for streaming too much. Local library is fine for me but good snappy user interface is quite important to me.
Solid daps, but they’re imo mainly synergistic with sony iems, and value wise they can sometimes be a tough sell, but do think their higher end options like the WM1Z or 1A, or DMP Z1 are solid options, they generally lean more toward a warmer, more impactful, and sweeter lean over technical performance. I actually have no idea how those would play with andros, but great with the z1r of course
No, probably not, unless you’re a diehard fan. It is better imo, but not substantially, just a mild technical bump, likely not worth a grand unless you really love what it has to offer. It’s also a bit more tonally bright which I actually slightly prefer the tonality of the regular lpgt
Guess it also feels more solidly built, but the og one already felt that way anyways lol
Lotoo has that for sure, not streaming though
Thanks @M0N, any thoughts on how LPGT would be with some of the full size dynamic driver headphones that are usually not very hard to drive like HD800S/Grado/ZMFs? I’m not expecting them to sound their best but still good enough for a portable use.
Drives them great imo, tried a pgt with all those cans, and none had issues, all was great, the pgt is very neutral and well balanced in all aspects, very mature sounding, so it’s not going to add much coloration to things imo. I do think it can’t pull off things like the susvara or 1266, but can do even kinda hard to planars like the diana v2 reasonably well, and great with efficient planar as well like the d8kp. I don’t know if it’s a dap where I have as many pairings that immediately come to me as “standout” but it seems to handle most pairings really well
Haven’t tried zmf but 800s and ps2000e both worked damn solid on lpgt. I also realy liked Diana v2. Behind p6p → mk428, but not by much tbh.
Coming back around to this, how far off is the 6000 compared to the Gold Touch? (Question for anyone who’s heard them, not just Towa.) It looks like they both have all the features I need, so I’m really only asking about sound quality in this regard. Like, do the two have a similar house sound?
The gold touch imo is a distinct step up in technicalities, and while similar house sound, the 6000 actually has a bit of a bass bump and slightly warmer signature whereas the gold is more just kinda flat neutral, although both are neutral leaning in the grand scheme of things. Feature set wise, pretty similar iirc. If you can find a used gold touch it’s worth the extra compared to the used prices of the 6k, but if restricted to buying new that’s a lot larger of a price gap lol
Hello and Happy New Year everyone!
Re-posting this here as another member suggested. Probabaly makes more sense in this thread.
Has anyone heard or read anything regarding Lotoo and new and/or updated DAPs? Super interested in the Gold Touch but wonder if they have something in the works. I believe it’s been around for quite some time without much but software updates.
I do not use “traditional?” social media like FB so rely on websites and Youtube but cannot find any info regarding their current “projects”.
Thanks!
