Looking to buy TOTL closed back setup need suggestions (budgetless)

Hmmm I guess this would be the thread to check for that, I ended up making a bit of an informal list of terms I like to use myself, but I’m not sure if that would be all that helpful or not

Lol from reading that list it just seems like id want all those things. What is a couple dacs you could recommend for trial that are decently high end. I want to go around 5000$ max for an upgrade on a dac for now. I can perhaps try some out to understand the differences in this. I will also go back and check what i perceive to be different from my old simple schiit stack vs my current setup

I wonder if you could find a used Lampizator Amber 3 around the 2.5k mark, it’s a great option for emphasizing the more fun and immersive aspect of the quicksilver without leaning too much one way, another great option is a used Aqua La Voce S3, also around similar price point used which is fantastic or nuance and organicness and a more neutral sound in comparison. A used mojo mystique v3 or something similar under 3k would be a great option for being a more warmer and fun option as well

These would be pretty pushing the performance of the quicksilver close to reasonable max, but there are also great cheaper options worth considering

Good idea, spend a few days with the schiit stack, then go back to the quicksilver + bf2 and see what you think. I wouldn’t suggest doing any sort of like rapid a/b, but instead to better understand and comprehend the differences a more extended a/b is a better approach (really just switching to the schiit stack for a few days, then going back to the new chain should leave you with plenty of info)

Another thing you could do is replace the BF2 with the other schiit dac and see what changes with the quicksilver so you can compare on the same amp

One of the ways you can begin to understand or articulate what it is that you want is to buy and listen to various pieces of hardware and sell them off to fund buying the next once. No amount of reading and no amount of advice from someone online is going to give you that first hand experience.

Part of the hobby is to explore, make mistakes, try different things. You’ll learn more about your preferences listening to something you don’t like than by listening to something you do like.

Bumping thread. Any new headphone I can buy or dac amp etc. I am fine with getting open backs now as well. The verite was really nice, but looking for something new with a different feel to it.

What have you been up to in the last 12 months? Bought anything and what did you think of it? If you really liked something but want more of “that” you’re going to get a lot of help. Otherwise you’re just going to get a lot of nothing for suggestions.

Are you still with BF2/QS/VC as your chain? What do you want your new one to be different with? What do you like about the current one? What’s the budget?

i haven’t bought anything actually. I like it but I do want to explore the different type of sounds and such with different amps dacs etc.

Yes I am. I’m looking to get an open back headphone now and another dac/amp. budget is 7500$
