Lo-fi in-wall speaker amp help!

Hi:

The prior owners of our house has 4 different rooms w/ in-ceiling speakers, driven as a single zone via a Sonos connect and a Sonance 12-50 amp. That amp is now dead. It’s inside a poorly-ventilated cabinet and probably wasn’t the healthiest environment for it, but alas it’s on permanently and once in a while the spouse or kids might play some music through it. So it’s lo-fi and I’m not inclined to spend too much to fix this.

Now looking for a replacement, not stuck w/ the Sonos ecosystem. We don’t use any other Sonos devices, but do have Alexa/Google home. It’d be nice to have all 4 rooms playing the same music, or once in awhile just make it 2 zones.

Any suggestions? What about getting two Wiim (@Rmsanger) and making it 2 zones? Are these reliable and run cool so I can just leave them on forever? Does the app work w/ 2 Wiims and can I easily have them sync’d to play the same thing?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Keith

Honestly, id just look at used sonus options. They seriously tank in value as soon as a new gen is released so you can probably even get a multi-zone setup for just a couple hundred
