Is it worth to try out Tube amp whit LCD XC

So i wanted to try to tube my LCD XC just worried over thire low Ohm,
i lookt at Line Magnetic LM-MINI84IA and a Cayin Ha-1a.
Would they work ore should i just go Hybrid?

Hmmmm, so I do think you can use a tube amp with the lcd x, but I think I’d suggest going 1k+ range of tube amps. So far what sort of signature would you want to go for, and how much are you willing to spend?

Thats the thing i don’t even know what tube sounds like so I wanted something to get in the world of tubes!

Wa thinking like 400-800$ looking around the used market

Gotcha gotcha

So that’s going to be hard for this type of headphone, the main thing I would point you toward is a quicksilver headphone amp, personally I don’t think many tubes you and get at the 1k range have the control for or handle planar well, the quicksilver is a standount in that regard imo. Signature is a more on the neutral and balanced side of things but with still great body and sweetness, very expansive stage, good resolution, very dynamic. Not sure if they pop up used that much though

I do think the cayin would work for something warmer, more rich and wet sounding, but I think it lacks the technical ability of the quicksilver

Hmm I got to look in to the quicksilver

I’ve got a thread about it and how it compares to other options on here as well, and other owners impressions too

I’ve got one for sale as well :eyes:

Yes it is hard.
Especially with low impedance planar headphones it is even harder.
I spontaneously think of the Woo Audio Wa6, which was also designed for low-ohm headphones.
The QuickSilver would also turn me on.

In that case, a hybrid amplifier is actually the better choice.
But even there, the market is a bit thin on the ground.

Otherwise, if you just want a taste and don’t want to spend a lot of money.
The Little Dot products are not wrong.
Otherwise, White Bird Amplification is a solid Otl amplifier if you live in Europe.

I have the LM mini, i’ll blow the dust and cobwebs off and try it on an audeze and see what it does. Its a 32ohm tap on the HP out made more for Grado’s but it might work well. With good tubes it’s a fun little amp and adorable too…
