New LTA remote. It requires a firmware update on existing hardware (excludes MZ2).

I’m always skeptical of headphones with angled drivers or other equipment inside the cups. Sure, it may enhance sound, but it also kills fit for people with odd-shaped ears.

The mantra for EVERY headphone manufacturer should be wide, deep cups with plush padding.

It still boggles my mind how far down the list some manufacturers place comfort and ergonomics when combined it is arguably the second-most important quality of a headphone behind sound. Hell, it may be No. 1. Who wants to listen to a great-sounding headphone that sets their ears or skull on fire or crushes either like a vise?

While I appreciate the new remote, I wouldn’t upgrade. Perfectly adequate withe the existing remote especially once you get the hang of it. I love the simplicity of it.

Yeah, I was thinking the same. Sending the unit back for a firmware update seems excessive for a remote control. The old Apple Remote works just fine.

Maybe if there’s some substantial hardware updates to the MZ3 then I’d consider sending it in and grab a new remote, but I’m content for now. Especially since it’s doesn’t affect sound quality.

It depends. There are some weird angle headphones that I really like and is probably my favorite headphones besides the Onkyo A800. Both the ATH-L3000 and ATH-W10VTG drivers are place behind your ear and give a very unique soundstage. I swear, sometimes music play behind your head easily even without a tube amp.

Edit: I guess for comfort, people had some issues. But when they replace pads with like ZMF pads, they said the headphone feels more comfy to them. Maybe swapping pad might help with comfort? I never had any issues with comfort with any headphone except with old AKG headphones.

Nah. Intense discomfort kills any and all sonic pleasure for me.

Now, I’m not going to accept substandard sound with great comfort. But I’m also not accepting great sound with flame-throwing discomfort, either.

Looks really interesting, will have to pick one up at some point, nice to see a fpga dac dongle, and very strong power output for the w4 non ex, although I worry about battery life of whatevers connected to it lol

Fpga stuff does seem pretty interesting, I’ve been meaning to watch that talk about the mojo 2 at some point.

From what they’ve said on there, the w4 apparently uses half as much battery

Did lcd revise anything on the current 2 or 3? Or is this guy just behind? The NEWER Audeze LCD-2 and LCD-3?? - YouTube

DMS implied that there were new pads and the newer style stock cable but that’s about it for the LCD-2. I’d assume the same (pads and cable) for the LCD-3 as well. He appeared (to me) to spend most of his time trying to sell the LCD-3 on it’s unique treble peak as a “feature” that makes it special… um yeah…

He did let it slip he thought the MM-500 was a better sounding headphone so I dunno perhaps they are trying to clear out old stock and also promote the MM-500. I noticed the LCD-2 is sold out on their site so makes sense to me why more time spent on the LCD-3…

I’m good, I have a choice LCD-24 so have Audeze covered nicely I think.

And my LCD-2.2pf are still doing very fine by me!

Honestly, I think I’d rather have a mm500 over the fazored lcd 2 or 3 as well lol, so not surprising

That lack of transparency sounds pretty dumb.

New topping HP amp with 17W @ 16 ohm @ 0.1% THD (instead of the normal 1%)

Ngl, I think ima order this one just cause of the power output. That’s wild

Topping cracks me up. Another amp that escalates the spec wars and little else.

If someone can hear the difference between 1 and 0.1 THD, then you have the ears from the gods. If someone can show me a non-eStat headphone that demands 17 watts of power, I’ll eat my ass hair.

Not judging you, Bob. If you want this unit, knock yourself out and enjoy!

I’m just a charter subscriber to the John Seaber (JDS Labs) school of headphone amps. Build an affordable unit with clean power and focus on synergy and quality instead of chasing ridiculous spec wars that the average audiophile can’t deduce or doesn’t need.
