Any other R2R dongles in existence? I can’t think of any.
not that I know of at least
I believe this will be the first, pretty interesting. I’m curious what kind of price this thing will run. It seems like everyone is trying to get in on the dongle market lol
For the Burson fans…
It was lcd-5
Ngl. I really want this because of the sub out as a preamp headphone combo
Yep, the 5 it was.
They seem a little smaller and everything is more rounded design wise. The tortuous shell cups are… an interesting design choice. I would like to see better looking acetate options there.
Head-fi interview on LCD-5
FR measurements actualy look pretty solid. I cant EQ on my main setup so if this is a push towards more towards what they managed with the LCD-R ima be extremely happy. Here is to hoping for excelent timbre.
looks really good, thank god for the weight reduction
Honestky, the LCD-R are extremely comfortable even at their higher weight so I’ve got some pretty high hopes for the comfort level here. I doubt I’ll buy new but if they strike my fancy at canjam I may aim for the first used set on the market (unless ky dealer wants to cut me a big break and I sell a bunch of shit so I can still get a propper amp)
10W @8 ohm is a lot more than I was expecting tbh
Hifiman has apparently developed their own r2r chip to be used in BT dongles like what is included with the deva
New headphone from warwick (same company as sonoma model one)
Uses same dac/amp unit as sonoma

Sounds more like a Hifiman house sound to me.
Because they probably can’t manage to tune it well.
It sounds slightly like desperation.
Presumably you can then also look forward to typical Hifiman failures in terms of quality.
And they obviously want to compete with the Ifi Signature zen/Dac, as it seems.
That will certainly be interesting to watch next year.
I remember hearing about the chip, but was unaware of the use case.
I know they have committed to Bluetooth as a technology, so it’ll be interesting to see how good the dongles end up being.
If it’s intended to use with higher end cans they’ve touted as being compatible with their bluetooth module like the R10 iirc, then it needs to be worthy of that task.
The first product it seems to be shipped with is the new Deva Pro, which will ship in October according to HFM… nice thing is they change the color to a more neutral black trim from the peanut-butter tan in the original Deva, the R2R BlueMini of course, but also compatibility with dual-entry cables, which is really nice – the BlueMini plugs into the left side and you can also use single cable on left, but dual-entry is obviously very convenient for third-party cables.
