Hello,
even if itās only a niche, I think Zmfās move is cool.
It shows that they are interested in other headphones on the market and are looking for improvements for their own products as well as the support of other manufacturers who work more on the low cost principle.
That has to be commended.
They do a lot better than Dekoni.
And honestly, the pictures I have seen for the Beyer and Sennheiser enhance the headphones visually well, now it just has to fit sonically.
I havenāt seen the Grado yet.
Zmf has done a really solid job, considering how they started out. a lot of it started with the Fostex, where you could put on the pads from the Zmf headphones and get good results.
Word, one thing I like about then too is that Zach (considering how he started off it makes sense) continuously talks about other headphones he enjoys or has enjoyed. While I noticed like the abyss guys basically never ever mention names of other headphone makers. Even ones that donāt directly compete in price range they are hesitant to ever mention.
Fuuuuuā¦ thatās more money than I get in a whole year. So yep. You should def be terrified.
There are some rumors about the next Sony WM DAP.
Man Iām all for it. Been waiting for the next iteration. Iām so hypeeeeed!
I might be in the minority here, but I hope they donāt use Android. I prefer their proprietary OS.
Scratch that. Those home and back buttons are definitely from Android.
Thereās an event on Feb 9 so it could be the release of the new 1Z, maybe 1A, the two Z1Rs as well
I didnāt know abt this. Is this a tech event or an audio event?
Audio event, so far Iāve only seen a poster in Chinese so I donāt know if it will take place in China or elsewhere. It says sth āheavyweightā will be coming
Source: from Sonyās audio official social media account in China
Yah. Its amazing how quickly your perspective can skew. I remember being in college only just a few years ago and paying 4k for a car damn near made me go cross-eyed. As my career as progressed my tastes have kinda moved up to match unfortunately
Iām very currioys how this turns out. Tbh the wm1a sounds fantastic even still, its just a pita to use. If they manage to either up the power or give us true LO I very well may get one just to try.
As for Android, I doubt they will go stock Android. So long as they do something like A&K i wouldnāt worry about what the base of the operating system is. My sp1000 felt snappy as hell when I sold it only a couple of months ago. Iād be much more concerned about internal hardware like wifi chips (if it streams), USB connectivity (not like im guessing anyone will copy LPs 16bit only over USB but stilā¦) and BT
Hifiman HM800 review: tiny little dac/amp that uses their new Himalaya R2R chip
Looks interesting!!
Article refers to it as a ādecoding amp.ā Not my term, lol.
Is this real r2r though? Ill guess weāll have to wait for more info to come out
Probably, since itās real in their other products I doubt they would lie about that, HFM has had R2R in their daps for awhile now (although their own architecture is more new for them)
This is the first chip they have made themselves. Previous daps were all outside design/manufacture
Havenāt seen this mentioned yet. Sonnet just dropped a new dac (~5k rrp and seems double the number of cards of morph but not much info)
Yep, double the Decoder ācardsā (8 total) and also theyāre a new design over the Morpheus, SDA-3 (morph was SDA-2).
Theyāre supposed to run at a higher voltage, which has some sort of benefit.
Not much info out there on sound however.
WM1ZM2 and WM1AM2 are officially released. From Sony Singapore, theyāre priced at 5000 SGD and 1900 SGD.
I honestly really might grab the Z, that looks super appealing
I never really got into sony since a lot of my time with them was with their overpriced consumer junk, post their good years and prior to their recent revival.
I did hear their earlier daps shared similarities with the cowon daps so that is probably positive. And they for sure have a cult following.
