Using color change to indicate volume was and is a bad idea. It is basically like saying to anybody that is colorblind, hey youāre on your own.
Oh shoot, didnāt know they released this until today. Ferrum DAC/amp combo, so no flagship release yet. Looks interestingā¦
I just read thisā¦
The signal path stays truly balanced using the XLR inputs and becomes truly balanced using the RCA inputs.
Can RCA be balanced? Must be a typo.
No itās correct, itās just saying there is an inverter on the input to convert the RCA to balanced.
Most good balanced amps do that, the alternative is donāt use half the amp.
It means it transforms the rca input to balanced internal if I had to guess. Thatās how most balanced amps handle se inputs tbh
Edit: I got ninjaed
6.1W into 50 ohm. I mean holy hell m8. Guess the question is how good the dac section is. Uses a 9028Pro for the actual DA (not sure if they do any other processing off board like ayre/weiss/etc) and they seem to want you to use USB-C as the main input (also has optical and coax but much lower sample rates). Seems like an interesting product but certainly not a blind buy at >3k RRP w/ hypsos
Also wasnt one random audio company pushing a dac with special balanced rca connectors?
Khadas tone 2 does balanced output off of 3 RCAs or some weird shit
Yeah thats the one i am thinking of.
Might be same story as oor in that hypsos could be doing a lot of the work.
That is my guess but I guess we will have to wait and see. A budy of mine is a ferrum dealer. Im hoping he is getting one for himself and can give me the low down tbh
I just heard some whispers that Aries Cerat is working on a new totl headphone amp. No real additional details now but I think its fair to expect the price to be terrifying
Absolutely snagging one when they come out, also I totally wouldnāt be surprised. Tbh the genus is already pretty incredible as a headphone amp, I bet itās going to be amazing if they put all their focus into headphone.
I think compared to alternative options I donāt expect the price to be really all that unreasonable considering the level of headphone amps that have been reached in the last few years, the new prices of AC are pretty fair dare I say good value for what you get imo. Although the resale value is really just too high for some things where you might as well buy new so I bet it will stay near MSRP if itās good
I just looked uo their price list. Not sure why, but I definitely thought the genius was 40k rrp not 16k eur (same as aic, 33 elite, etc). Iāll be interested to hear your thoughts once you get one in
Edit: I guess the fact that 16k no longer seems terrifying to me should be kinda terrifyingā¦
Thisā¦Iām not quite there, but starting to feel more like that in the <$10k used range as I peruse DAC upgrade options for later in the year
Just give it time.
I assign myself a budget for something, then it slowly creeps up as I look at options.
Thats me and most things. Just set the initial budget lower. It wont stop the creep but maybe itll give ya more guilt.
Not sure if this has been posted yet but ZMF released Beyer pads and a adapter to put them on Gradoās
It would be great to see this one break the stereotype of either the amp or the DAC being a compromise in these combo products. The Holo Cyan, great DAC, the Burson Conductor great amp. Can this one do it?
very serious doubt that it canā¦ TBH just the pure fact that they dont talk about the dac section at all besides naming the chip is a pretty bad sign imo
I share your skepticism.
