New FIR audio frontier series revealed
I hate that itās shiny but looks cool nonetheless.
Kinetic bass, I wonder is that like the bone conduction in the UM Mest.
Short answer itās similar and uses bone conduction tech but not exactly the same implementation. Long answer;
If you look on the backside on the xenon6 in this pic you can see the open ported dd that they talk about.
Saw this on MusicTeckās website, looks like thereās going to be a slightly updated version of the L&P W2 called the āW2-131ā:
The new w2 solves the āmulti tone bug?ā That sounds suspiciously like āaddressing an inaudible issue found in ASR measurements.ā
The slight update is because of the CS43198, which was the original DAC chip, becoming harder to find. So, they went with the CS43131 which has the same DAC section, but with an added amplification stage.
Not necessarily new to my knowledge, but including me im sure that not many people knew about this. Everyone has wanted a full 4.4 to 4.4 iematch for a while now, this seems to be hibyās take on one I donāt have an Andromeda anymore but it I did I would have loved to try it on my hiby player
300B amp from Felix, they claim a peak of 8W, though thatās likely into very low impedance loads, and 5W into 16 Ohms.
Might be interesting, no speaker option, and the price is $7000 Euroās, and youād want a good pairs of 300Bās and 6SN7ās on top of that.
Iām surprised thereās no cap, resistor, transformer upgrade options, the only thing that changes between the performance option is better internal wiring and slightly better 300b
Yeah itās a terrible way to package it, I wouldnāt want those tubes, but I would want the wiring upgrade.
I just read that too.
Thought oh maybe better capacitors and then no only cables.
Bit of a shame for the money but maybe an improvement and better than capacitors?
Weāll probably have to wait and see whatās under the bonnet to judge it better.
With the Euforia I have Vcaps TFTF in at the 6SN7 and was directly an improvement even in the burn in phase.
The increase was enormous, in the meantime even the less good tubes work better than before.
Didnāt know effect audio made an IEM
As far as I know, all feliks amps are available sans tubes (for an appropriate discount) from dealers, just not on their site
Seems as if Lake People have released new versions of the G103 P and S this month
yoooooooo I wonder what was changed, clearly not the looks lol (well yes slightly updated, but still very similar), wonder if itās a redesign or building off the same circuit
New volume knob though!! World of difference!!
I also gleaned this from the listings on Thomann where there are still a few of the old stock to compare:
five gains switchable -6 / 0 / +6 / +12 / +18 dB
vs the old version with -4 / +2 / +8 / +14 dB
So likely other internal changes too?
Boarr man, they really could have at least put the gain switch on the bottom if it wasnāt possible at the back.
Instead of having to open this cover again.
For a revision with improvements, I would have expected that, especially from a German perspective.
They probably had one beer too many again and didnāt notice.
Donāt know if everyone knew yet but new Diana model drop:
Iām still waiting on getting a used set of V2s I bought sent to me so I was slightly upset this happened at nearly the same time. But then I saw the price and thought āfuck thatā. Then I went to the price of the V2s. āEh fuck that tooā.
Amber 4
Following our huge efforts to create the Baltic-3 and the Pacific DAC we gained enough knowhow and confidence to redesign the Amber DAC from ground up, and offer an entirely new product. Circa around November 25th 2021 we start shipping Amber-4, while technical necessities caused us to phase out Amber-3 entirely.
We are very proud of this DAC, and the fact that at an entry level price we can outperform any competitor known to us. This DAC gives joy and bliss in spades.
Some other highlights are: copper output caps, CLC power filter with tube rectifier 6X5, true balanced option, volume control option, full analog preamp of very high quality, USB operation of the highest caliber, newly designed muting to avoid pops and clicks in computer operation, and many many more.
