I like the new chassis look.
Has anyone heard anything on the MSB Sentinel?
Apparently is a massive leap in their product lineup. Their current TOTL is the Cascade which replaced the Select. The cascade has 8 MSB DAC modules (4 per channel), while the Sentinel has 32 (16 per channel).
It seems pretty interesting as they’ve made several software and some hardware changes. I wonder what they’ll be charging? The Cascade is $95k I believe.
This recent video shows the Sentinel’s DAC modules.
(Big ol’ boys)
Sounds like they’re just paralleling more DAC chips for a (hopefully) more precise average.
They’re proprietary ladder modules. It’s an R2R design, but I’m sure it’s a similar outcome to what you’re saying. Probably similar to what Aries Cerat does with multiple AD chips, but with resistor ladders.
They’re DACs are well regarded so I’m sure this will be well received.
The speaker nobody asked for lol…
Wow, those go with this! WTF😂
I am a fan of magnetic pads, though i always wondered how their fields would affect the driver magnets, if at all.
I’d doubt it’s significant they’ll be very weak compared to the driver magnets and the magnetic field falls of with the square of distance. You could pretty easily check it with one of those cool magnetic field viewers.
I think it’s more about pad manufacturing/cost and possibly the fact that you get a less good seal between the face of the headphone and the pad, which will have some impact on sound.
It is a very nice looking package and tbh i thought it would be $4k higher. Which by his comments on tarrifs it seems they really tried to get the first batch in as soon as they could.
In Schitt news, Valhalla 3 about to finally launch, plus a couple of surprises…
I wonder what the mimic will be, maybe a streamer.
I’d agree since It’s a hole in their portfolio since the Urd disappeared. Perhaps they may have rethought what they wanted to do in the digital space.
Thanks, I saw that as well.
It looks (and sounds) like a very interesting product, I’m not interested personally but I’d love to hear one.
We’ll see what develops with the upcoming Yggy launch, and what is incorporated from the Mimir. It sure is attractively priced!
