Does picture and color quality matter if things are blurred or look like frames are dropped out? It also depends on the content. If you watch sitcoms and more static shows then you wont notice. Any action or sports and 25 cant keep up. It is like watching a phone recording where it feels like its laggy just trying to keep up.
Anyway, this is more ranty than productive so i will just leave it that they should have a new worldwide standard by now.
It usually means they think a not unnoticeable number of people have displays that pattern their refresh rate based on 240v. Namely crts and early lcd tvs
I hope some honest reviews come out cause it looks kinda cute, I think its ok that its balanced only as long as the sound lives up to the amp.
I do imagine it should be better than a schiit vali 3, get some rca clear tops there or some jap NEC 12au7 and it should improve a bunch from the provided apos tubes.
They look way more elegant with the black metal casing ripped off. And i would think with the mesh in there and properly designed piece you dont need to worry about any extra noise.
The tube mesh matches the amps vent mesh design too. A pretty tube indeed.
Found this over on Head-Fi: the DT1990 MKII. As a fellow Beyer fan, Iām excited! It seems to be using a new āTesla 45ā drivers (not the Stellar 45).
Maybe a closed back Susvara in the future? Hifiman does not have a good track record in the closed back arena so I donāt know maybe itās just a concept piece.
Given it has a price, I doubt itās just a concept piece.
failing to get closed backs right before isnāt going to dissuade them from trying it again, though Iām not sure it would be a closed back Susvara at < 1/2 the price.
Also wonder what āHybrid Headphoneā means in this context.
Itās elegant stuff, and I am curious about it (though not enough to buy).
Lachlan (Passion for Sound on YT) did a review on the DAC, and said it was quite good, but not necessarily better than Schiit Yggdrasil unless you used HQ Player into the LAIV.
Also, fwiw Cameron (Golden Sound) said he did some consulting work for LAIV on the DAC and amp, and had something interesting to say on the amp in a recent Headfi thread:
I wonder if the breakout box is stackable, i.e. can you daisy chain them if you want both a phono preamp and additional inputs?
If I have understood correctly, the phono box can also be connected to the amplifier via this special input.
Or rather, 2 inputs should be possible if you add Rca.
The Dac doesnāt look bad in Holo Spring 3 range and Gustard R26, I like the way Laiv is going with modular components, which may one day be easily interchangeable instead of having to buy a new one.
Soundwise I think the Laiv Dac will be with the Spring3,Gustard R26,LTA Aero region,in the end itās your personal taste and what your own expectation is that counts.Tends to be interesting for those who are just looking.
The amplifier makes a good impression, the input can apparently handle over 20v via XLR, if you have dacs that can also output this at the output, thatās pretty neat, if you assume that the standard is at 4 volts.supposedly the input voltage also increases the power that you can have 20 watts or more.
Personally, I donāt understand why so much is needed for headphones, I still have an SS amp on the side with 1 watt of power and thatās enough for 300ohm headphones.
Even my tube amp which can do 3 watts, I donāt even need that much power to get to the headphones, okay Hifiman Suvara needs a lot, but I would rather put that under other calibres where there are other amps for it.
Agreed, thatās true in general. Susvara used to be the benchmark or pinnacle of ācan you drive this?ā
Now, the Modhouse Tungsten is the new ākingā of needing nearly obscene amounts of power (voltage in this case) to drive properlyā¦ Or thereās always speaker amps!
