I didn’t even get the rs6 with the intent of giving as a gift, it was just something they listened to and ended up wanting themselves, although for the vxv I did get those mainly as a gift lol
HAHAHAHA way to add salt to the wound about the VxV
Btw I did think of a “quirk” recently, so the RS6 when you leave it playing music it will play music until it dies. Which is great in terms of I want it to keep on playing music and stay warm. When you connect it to the charger and leave playing music however once it gets to 100% battery it generally stops playing music. Really inconvinent since I wanted to leave it playing music all day to always be ready to go.
However, recent finding that isn’t 100% proven yet but seems to be the case is that you can leave it playing music and charging all day without the music stoppin BUT the caveat is that you must be using a input or output. So I left the LINE OUT connected to my WA8 (WA8 off obviously) but that way It legit kept on playing the music files without stopping after 100% battery. I think it’s an android thing.
Clearly elementze and Littledrummerboy need to start dating some other, richer-blooded audiophiles. They’ll gift you a bunch of stuff that matches your taste! Embrace it, /become/ the SO, lol.
Can we focus back on hiby daps themselves and less who they are used by/given to lol
idk dude, @M0N is the one giving out Hiby RS6/ FIR VxV like candies
That reminds me, I should really update my RS6 article. Now i think it’s fair to say that i’ve owned it long term. I think I bought it around november bro. Have more complete thoughts on it.
Old ladies have hard candies, Sonus has daps.
When my brother was in his late twenties he dated a 40 year old woman, recently divorced from a very wealthy tech VC type. He admits that getting to drive her Ferrari was part of the allure.
PSA/Reminder of the day: I really really cannot understate how important it is to let the RS6 burn in everytime before use. Every single time I find myself being let down by my gear without a doubt the common link always ends up being, did I warm up the hiby before this sesh? Everytime that it’s a no I re-use the gear and I warm it up I find myself enjoying it. It might be enjoyable short term but eventually it will get to you.
Patience, young padawan!
LOL
I know I know haha. I try to be patient lol but I don’t wanna make like a whole experience out of it lol. I just wanna pick it up and jam lol
This right here is the biggest complaint i have with the p6p tbh. Warmup on it is legit like an hour or so and i rarely listen to iems more than an hour and a half at a time…
Yeah bro, for convinience. For IEMs. Daps should not need warmup lol. But I can’t deny the sound once it is warmed up. But it’s Def not a pick up ans go device.
quick noob question about this (and maybe generally about DAPs) - are they meant entirely for local file playback? no streaming roon/qobuz/spotify?
I see there’s an option to use it as a USB DAC - will that work with the iPhone? if so, any degradation in audio quality compared to the local playback?
I’m trying to figure out what would work for me for a portable setup. Always have my iPhone with me, always streaming music, no files.
It depends on the Dap and what OS it runs really. For example, the RS6, R6 and R5 from Hiby all without a doubt could stream and play local files because they are completely android based so they could do anything your phone could do essentially. (I personally streamed Spotify with it at times). Astell & Kern daps technically run on Android as the base however they largely modify/restrict it where even though there are workarounds to stream on them I personally was never able to get Spotify going on those so I would generally consider those more local playback devices. Other DAPs that don’t run on popular/supporterd software like that to my knowledge aren’t generally supported for streaming at all, stuff like the Questyle Daps/Luxury & Precision p6 pro in my experience.
The RS2 from Hiby I’m pretty sure is their first/only Dap that dosent run Android so I doubt it will have any streaming support whatsoever unless explicitly advertised otherwise. Essentially from Hiby in particular, that is their only Dap that u might want to fully stay away from.
You could totally get a android based Dap like an Ibasso/Hiby and rest knowing that you will be able to stream. I know alot of people go the dongle route these days too so you can play music off your phone like usual but using the dongle hooked up to it.
Thank you that makes a lot of sense. I’ll ask about dongles on the general thread but that seems to me like a better route for me.
Yw! Yeah I had a questyle dongle (had because I totally lost it) and it was awesome. Great sound and I was able to play music off my phone. Dongle are dope if you just want a decent portable option.
Anyone else still rock’n the Hiby RS6?
Mine just received the 1.60 Firmware update today and it added more new features than the installation summary led onto. From what I’ve seen so far, this update was primarily to align / merge many of the features between the RS6 and RS8.
The main one I’m playing with right now is the HDR (High Dynamic Range) option in the Darwin Controller. I’m trying to figure out what the heck it’s actually doing, if it’s a hardware setting or software / DSP type setting. So far I’ve not found much info online. If anyone else has gotten this update, and has figured out what the HDR option is actually doing, please share
Well, have been feeling the itch to upgrade from my Hiby R6Pro. Still doing research but leaning towards the LP and Lotoo higher end offerings. While perusing my fav vendor I pulled the trigger on an open box Hiby R2R for fun. Looking forward to recieving it and playing with it this weekend. Super interested in the Hiby Darwin tech. I will be using this with my UM Mest MKii iems.
Still looking to upgrade, this is for fun. Anyone else own this little chunky puppy?
