Yeah, but nothing wrong with liking them and if you like the voicing it makes sense to go higher with them
Moreso voicing imo

The noise floor issue some of the A&S amps have is probably not an issue on the Susvara.
My biggest qualm is his choice of tubes, I’m just not that interested in a KT88/EL34 headphone amp.
Ok. That makes sense. I found out I wasn’t a fan of the wa33 litteraly at all (JPS edition stock tubes). Tbh I dont think I was truly understanding “dry” until I heard it on d8kp. Only headphone I’ve ever heard I’d want that sound sig on is an LCD-2C and even that is only just a “passable” quality. All on p6p LO btw
I really like the wa33 but I can agree it can get too dry at times. That’s good to know then, so you are looking for a sweeter leaning amp. I’d say if you liked the a&s that much, just go bigger ben, it will drive the susvara well and give you basically a direct upgrade with the right tubes. I can’t really think of anything around 5k ish tube wise that would give you the signature like the mogwai and drive the susvara well. Other higher end options exist but that’s going to go over the budget
Yes the WA33 is very dry, I’m all in on tubes, but the big wet sound really doesn’t do it for me. The WA33 is just about perfect for me, my favorite amp with the Susvara, 1266 I prefer on SS (Liquid Gold) and the D8KP the Stratus.
Curious what would be right in the middle b/w those two (a&s / woo)?
Ifk if it was that I was using d8kp where thin mids is already a complaint but yah. The p6p->wa33 kinda felt “wide analytical” which just wasn’t very pleasant imo. Its was like the other extreme If the phantasy ii was the middle ground and wa8 was one extreme. Tbh I was a little suprised at how different they sounded. I wouldn’t be able to pick out a “house sound” from those 2 demos. But yes, ultimately my favorite pair up was esebtisly wa33 staging and about half way between the phantasy ii (sweet but not enough to fix thin mids) and wa8 (unnaturally wet) for lushness which is kinda where the a&s seemed to fall.
Fair enough. Ill keep an eye out for a used one then.
I will actualy agree on the wet. The full wet of wa8 just wouldn’t work for me as a main source but it is very fun as a flavor listen. I actualy found the wa33 to be too dry for my tastes though (though maybe it works better not on the d8kp where I already have an issue with thinner mids than I like or maybe a warmer dac)
They actualy had an og liquid gold there (apparently they are going to start releasing them btw). Tbh I think it was my least favorite amp of the day if I’m being honest… just felt kind of blunted and slow overall. I do wonder if maybe it needed a hotter input than the p6p could provide though
Could totally see that with a d8kp, would def not be my first pick for that headphone, and the p6p is a meh match for it too imo
The wa33 is the new woo house sound, wa8 is more old woo. Perhaps consider trying a WA5 2nd gen, it’s somewhat in the middle of the wa33 and wa8 signature and performance wise, closer to the wa33 in technical ability but closer in signature to the wa8 but more forward and clean
Hello,
Shenzenaudio is apparently having problems supplying me with the Little Dot Dac 1.
They said it would leave the shipping department at the end of the week.
So far nothing has happened, I’m waiting until Monday.
If nothing happens then, I’ll cancel it.
Then the Ifi Zen Dac Signature or Allo Revolution Dac would move forward as an alternative.
The Zen would only be interesting for me because I have a Tidal subscription, otherwise I could do without the ominous format, so it wouldn’t be a knockout criterion for me.
The goal would be to get away from the Class D circuit with a decent implementation.
If those two are your options, I’d personally go with the revolution dac with their lps as I think that’s a real solid option and a step above the zen signature
Well, the intended use is more for the bedroom where it will be connected to the Little Dot 1+.
It doesn’t necessarily have to be something monstrous next to it.
I would also be open to something else.
If Ess chip then it should be soft, especially in the treble.
On @M0N recommendation I picked up an Allo Revolution with Allo Linear Power Supply. Great choice! Sounds good on everything I’ve paired it with, especially G111. But it’s also turned into my “utility player” going to any amp when I rearrange gear and need another DAC. Remote control gives nice flexibility for pairing with powered monitors. To my ear the sound is neutral and detailed, I’ve yet to find a bad pairing with it (albeit with my limited pairing options)
Hi Guys,
Hope can offer some advice about the Dangerous Music SOURCE Monitor Controller.I am interested in it to replace my Ares II DAC as I am aiming to a more studio like sound to pair with my RNHP, will this be a step up over the Ares II DAC? What about it integrated headphones amp, is it any good?
Additionally I use HD600 and recently the ATH r70x.
Thanks in advance!
Hello,
Does it make sense to connect the Little Dot Dac 1 to the Singxer F1 via coax when controlling the Dac with the tablet?
The Usb port only allows a maximum of 16/44, which is actually the maximum that the smartphone and tablet can output.
It would also be the case on the PC in terms of output.
I’m not sure if it’s a waste of money or could be useful.
The Dac is of course not up to date, but really not bad.
I think it would def give you a more studio sound, actually pretty good as an all in one but the neve is a much better amp. I think dac wise it will be more raw, cleaner, more forward and potentially harsh, pretty good detail, very impactful. Although I think dynamically, timbrally, and spatially it’s going to be a slight step down from the ares ii. But it would accomplish the goal of being more studio like. Amp wise it’s better than serviceable, but I wouldn’t bother using it if you have a neve. But I don’t think I’ve had enough time with it to really say anything definitive here only an hour or so so take what I’ve said with a larger grain of salt than normal
You could do that, it might improve sound quality since the singxer usb is likely better than the one inside the little dot, better clocked digital signal is seldom a bad thing. But if you don’t already have one I’m not sure if it would be worth buying one just for that dac.
Thank you Mon,
Yes, that’s exactly what I’m unsure about.
The most I could do is try to connect the Little Dot to the Singxer Su 2 via coax, which I still have.
To test whether the F1 might be worth upgrading later.
At the moment, the Su2 is connected to the Sda2 and the hi-fi system.
I don’t necessarily want to have to buy a second one .
I’d definitely test the su2 on the little dot and see what happens, that way you can decide if it’s potentially worthwhile to go for a ddc or not
Super thanks for the tip.
You are the best,Mon,.
Awesome! Thank you @M0N
Just one more question, DAC wise how will it compare to the RME ADI-2 and also some guys suggest a linear power supply upgrade for the SOURCE would and ifi iPoweX work?
