General Power Conditioning / Regeneration / Distribution / Grounding

Which Ansuz did you wind up with? I know you’ve gone all in with the Danish sound and I’m wondering if it’s a thing the way Japanese sound is.

I’m just not feeling the vibe with the PP3, I know what its doing but I’m struggling to describe it. It’s almost like watching digital video instead of a 70mm film and I bought it specifically to see what it would add to the preamp. I knew the amp would stay plugged into the conditioner.

Interestingly enough, my whole desktop setup clearly went up a notch when I moved it there this morning. It makes sense as the power there isn’t a dedicated line and I have a chi-fi power strip but I just can’t justify keeping this thing if it’s not meshing with what I bought it for.

Not everything works for everyone, it clearly isn’t working for you there is no point beating a dead horse, just move on. It’s still always interesting to hear how things work for others.

A lot of the more expensive alternatives you should be able to convince a dealer to loan you, and they are very much worth hearing before buying, because some people in 2Ch do prefer out of the wall. Though I suspect that is heavily dependent on the quality of the AC and the house wiring.

The building is relatively new, 14 years old so everything is code and modern and being 42 units int he building, it’s all pretty beefy. Not by anything other than coincidence the plug I use for the 2 ch is dedicated, nothing else on the circuit, basically four outlets in my office. two are off of this dedicated circuit and the other two are shared with the lights and outlets in the living room. they’re all 20 amps so that helps given that I’m plugging all of the 2 ch gear into the one outlet.

My apartment is also at the opposite end of the building where all of the mechanicals are. Perhaps that helps?

I’ll call it a win that I can move this on and perhaps put that money into more power cables since the money is already spent. LOL

I have the mainz A2. If I didn’t go ansuz, I may have tried the audience offering as well

Tesla coils… must be a subsidiary of an Elon Musk venture.

It took me months to find a description of what ANSUS meant by that term.
As far as I can tell it’s two counter wound coils, the idea being the signal runs in opposite directions along the coil and I assume they rely on cross talk for that to cancel high frequencies out.

It’s actually quite pretty when you find a pic of the internals.

A whole lot of work went into that board for sure

Welp, this is another way to assure your power is solid, this is pretty much as dedicated a connection for amplifiers as i have ever seen anyone commit to, swiped the picture off What’s Best forum from a very dedicated user in South Africa.

Mr. @dB_Cooper, i expect nothing less of you eventually :joy::+1:

Meh, I’m not impressed. A little sloppy and I’m not doing THAT to my Shunyata power cables, would kill the resale value.

I do like that he’s got a dedicated gang of ground as well.

An interesting article around power and how it’s changed through the decades, and possible solutions to address issues. I found the mention of using power conditioning boxes to be aligned with my experience, do more harm than good.

Enjoy:

Share your thoughts to discuss please, the network discussion was interesting to read and see the back and forth despite the steadfast views on each side. This seems to be another area where there are believers and skeptics.

So having moved the Viva into my main listening room I can no longer get away with the P3.
Currently both it and the Pacific are plugged into the P3’s High Current, not regenerated outputs, because when I mixed them I had a ground issue.

So I’m looking for a new power conditioning solution, I’m going to see what I can find at local brick and mortar dealers, but I’m open to suggestions.
FWIW I’ve tried Isolation transformers and they just don’t work in my environment.

I’d like to put both Ansuz Mainz and Audience Adept Response on your radar. Would love to see what you think about them if you get a chance to demo one.

Lots of ways to skin the cat but I’d like to ask if you’re not going to consider the obvious which is a second P3?

Upgrade to the P15, best used piece of kit I purchased. $3.5k give or take/

I’m not sure a single P3 will even cover the Viva, I’d have to test it.
I considered a P12 or P15, though I can’t fit the P15 into my existing rack.

It’s not something I buy often, so I’m considering options.

Puritan PSM 156 is a solid option, no wattage limits

It’s supposed to do 300 watts sustained, I can’t imagine the Viva sucking up that much if you just had that plugged into it. It just makes sense to me to try as you obviously already like the P3 solution.

Not related but the other day since I’ve been redoing a lot of my vibration/isolation stuff. I put some spare Gaia III speaker feet I had under my Richard Gray Power Company 1200C conditioner I use. Long story short, I have some iFi AC iPurifier plugs I use. And boy was it noticeable when I removed them. It was actually quite noticeable the effect they had.

It’s why I say so many ways to skin the cat. Definitely worth a try to just plug in the Viva and see.

Yes it’s probably fine, I’d guess probably 200+W, probably less than 300, given the WA33 pulls about 150 and it’s Fine with the Pacific somewhere North of 100, depending on the tube selection I could get the Pacific with the WA33 into the “green” band, I haven’t tested it without the Pacific attached.
Though I’m a bit concerned I’ll have ground issue with 2 P3’s as I have with one of the devices on the High current output.

Yes I have their active power cable with the conditioner built in, and it makes a noticeable difference in my second setup.

Yes on my list to try and try.

Don’t bother, Amir says it’s worthless.

Interestingly enough through, he didn’t actually listen to it. I love this hobby.
