Fostex TH900 / TH900 LTD / TH909

Run into a bit of the same thing as the RS6 on the warmup time, but well worth it to me.

So I’ve heard haha. Tbh I would mostly get it to have a reeeally good dac that’s transportable.

Certainly fits that bill.

You can’t fit a Bifrost 2 and a Car battery in your backpack?

I considered the RS6! Warmup+ portable was a no go for me.

Man I’m really enjoying the Dekoni Elite Sheepskin for TH Series Pads. They make my stock Pearl White’s less V-Shaped. Weird for me because I enjoy a nice V with tons of bass, but for some reason I’m liking the Dekoni pads over stock.

Lowkey wishing I kept my fostex pearl white to try those pads on it lol. Because that was one of the reasons I got rid of it, mids were still a bit too back for my liking. Found myself listening to the headphone in extremely loud volumes in order to have then where I like them. I think it’s the reason I listen to music slightly louder now, went more deaf lol

Very interesting. Mine is in stock form and I don’t feel like the.kds are too fat back for me. That may be a result of my source gear though I’m not sure. I’m a Sennheiser fan boy and I have no issue with the mids on my PW.

I’m not 100% sure this is the case however there were two things that I think factored in with me, because the mids are at a U shape where it’s slightly back (altho not crazy amounts) I found myself doing that but the main thing that made me crank the volume up was that because the lower mids were more lean I guess I found myself really cranking it used to kinda feel it more. I have no issue with the mids of the PW themselves but do consider two things, it was my only headphone at the time so for me it’s probably more of an issue and because the RS6 was the dac the mids are pulled back a bit in comparison to the bifrost (I wouldn’t know how forward mids are in the Yggy). Also I must assume that the Questyle probably helps on that regard too while the Hpa1 dosent necessarily.

Listening with the TH909s tonight and :pinched_fingers:

Roon Server → Allo DigiOne → Yggy OG → HPA v550 is what I’m working it from.

Think I’m finally going to get around to upgrading the cable from a Corpse GraveDigger to something from Norne.

Had to just pop in here to say that the bass on the Pearl Whites continues to blow my mind. I guess with the normal stuff i listen too its not too often i get tracks that take full advantage on its bass capabilities, but when i find something, my god its incredible. The extension, the micro detail in the bass, the impact, etc. is just :pinched_fingers:

Thinking about having Trevor hook me up with a cable for the TH909 (using a Gravedigger Corpse Cable currently) because, and I know I’ve said it before, this headphone does not get all the credit it deserves it is absolutely amazing and excels even further when matched with the right gear combos.
Roon → Allo DigiOne → Yggy → V550 is working nicely :headphones:

I love my Fostex. They’re the only headphones that I’ve never sold.

Anyone noticed the price lately on a new TH-909?
2499 EUR on Thomann…
I’m regretting not jumping on a 1400 EUR B-stock a while back
good for resale if you have one I guess

You can for sure find them for less than that. Depends on stores but I saw the price increase as well. A bit crazy to be honest

They went up to $1999.99 USD at most retailers I’ve seen here in the states a while ago. I think they were asking $1799 before dlr discount when I was shopping. I noticed a week later they were asking the higher $1999. This was earlier this year, around May when I purchased a set to replace the one I sold, and missed.

May have snagged a basically open-box for $1100 today… :eyes:
