Equipment Internals

I wouldn’t rewire it.
It’s been tested as built, there is no guarantee any change you make will improve it.
The reason you want a star ground is subtle, the wires in there all have resistances, so the ground potentials won’t be identical to each other at each socket, they’ll be really really close, with a star ground, all the ground currents flow straight to a single potential, rather than potentially between each other, but any effect on a power distribution device is going to be extremely subtle.

Leave the unit alone, i’ve had 3 of these protecting audio and HT systems for a few years now. I’ve not had any issues w/ them, and most importantly they do not seem to negatively affect the quality of the sound or picture in anything. I could be wrong but in my own experience they dont seem to bother anything🤷‍♂️

Looks like a perfectly normal ceramic fuse you can buy for 14 cents a piece from any reputable supplier…

Looks like a preamp, which manufacturer?
Do you happen to know what function the Mundorf has in the preamp?
Personally I think that Mundorf is not good for amplifiers, rather for speakers.
I had the Mundorf Silver/gold oil in a tube amp and was never really satisfied.
I ended up replacing it with an Audionote Copper which cost a bit more and was very happy with it, it was a good choice and sounded a good 2 steps above the Mundorf on all levels.
The CUTF, on the other hand, looks good and I really like it.
It is also installed in my tube amplifier.

Backert Labs Rhythm 1.3 with some 1.4 upgrades from what I gathered from the documentation.

Not really but based on where they are something on the input side? Just a guess.

If I interpret it correctly, the Vcaps are intended for the power supply and the Mundorf is actually intended for the output.
When I was looking into Vcap, I saw a few places where the CuTF is often used for the power supply.
So there’s nothing wrong with that.
I have also read that you should not use more than 2 CuTF’s in the output, otherwise the sound becomes too analytical and quite neutral, but I have hardly seen outputs where more than 2 CuTF’s were required, if then rather via bybass or similar.
I don’t know how it works as a combination to use the CuTF’s in the current as well as in the output.
I think that the manufacturer had his reasons to use this Mundorf.
However, as a combination they can still sound very good in terms of tuning.
Has a very proud price for a preamp, my goodness.
Where do you get the money for it?
I already have something against it, my wife even more so.
She’d bury me in the garden if something like that came through the front door,:sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile::sweat_smile:.

Ha! Mostly from the sale of my previous preamplifier.

Wow this looks awesome. Did you get a chance to hear alongside the LTA preamp before buying?

No. It can be a brutal hobby and at some point in the journey, you’ve got to either switch to buying from a dealer at dealer prices to get those trials. Or buying used and taking the risk.

Thankfully there are components that will sell PDQ if you buy them at the right price and sell them off at the same right price.

The Rhythm 1.3 and change as I’ve been calling it is a keeper and side by side equals or excels the LTA. It’s also a testament to how good the LTA pre at its price point that it’s not a blowout and I’m going to miss the LTA’s HP out.

I was bored earlier today, and wanted to have a look at my 18 year old integrated amp, Musical Fidelity X-150. For owning this since 2006 the cleanliness of the inside was a pleasant surprise, was expecting dust caked on the components and other signs of its age:

Does this have a soundcard/dac built in? Trying to figure out what the PCIe card is to the far right.

Yes. It can be configured with analog out, or XDMI out (also a PCIe double card). I believe it might have room to add additional outs but it gets costly; there’s also modularity to add an additional battery pack (this thing already has 3 batteries and 2 LPSU in it, see the left and front).
