Awesome! Congratulations
I have a good idea what I’m getting into, it’ll be interesting to compare to the WA33 and the DNA (which I let go last week). I sold the DNA not knowing what I was going to replace it with, the Studio T popped up at a bad time
Seller can of course still decide to change his mind until I pick it up
For anyone thinking about an Eddie Current Studio B, there are less than 5 left to be built before i presume, it’s all hung up. And I know at least one of those are spoken for.

I should also note his site is down (he knows and is working on it) but youll need an order form. If you cant get to it, i have a copy so please PM me if you need it.
Im flooding this thread a little, but @Polygonhell have you spent any time with the T yet?
Yes I like it a lot, swapped the PSVane Acme’s out of the WA33 into it last week.
Not an ideal amp for the Susvara, stage is a bit flat, dynamics a bit compromised, but outside of that it drives everything else well.
MySphere 3,1 on it is my current favorite pairing.
Excellent with the Utopia.
CA-1A using 32 Ohm out on the TI-1A is also excellent.
It’s what I expected, technically comparable to the WA33, possibly ahead in some respects, and while dry is obviously an SE amp rather than the Push/Pull of the WA33, staging is expansive, and it is the blackest sounding SE DHT amp I have ever heard (and the DNA was pretty silent).
I’m considering swapping it for the WA33 in my office this weekend, so I can give it some time with the Pacific, I just wish the WA33 wasn’t quite so heavy.
Popular tube around here.
I would like to hear more about this. I know the WA33 is quite high end but push/pull is sometimes written off as only being used to benefit for “more power”.
I hope that the B has this trait as well. You dont know what your missing until you get a more “grey” amp.
Dont hurt yourself. I am getting that Shiny Eyes on a loan. The package came in at 70lbs. Dense iron.
Have you tried the Sus out of the speaker taps?
In my experience there is a difference, but it could be the speaker to XLR cables too.
Generally Push/Pull tube amps are very clean and dry, the nature of the balanced circuit cancels most of the additional harmonic content you would get from the tubes along with a lot of noise from the circuit itself. It’s sometimes considered undesirable. But there are advantages in power, noise floor, and potentially dynamics.
I’m not really a big bloaty tube sound kind of person but even SE amps vary greatly in how much they add in terms of harmonics, and mid range warmth. The EC is on the subtle side of of mid range warmth, but there is some detectable.
DHT’s also have a very specific presentation, Balanced or SE, I’m not sure I could tell you why.
Popular 2A3 generally, very good new production tube with totally stupid breakin time to sound their best.
Someone else would have to comment, the Studio T’s and Monolith’s had a somewhat esoteric heater circuit, that likely contributes to this. Ideally the heater is driven by AC, it causes the tubes to behave “better”, but that’s almost guaranteed to have you end it’s 60Hz noise, so most amps use DC heater circuits. The Studio T/M uses a high frequency AC source, I don’t know if the B does the same.
The B will be a warmer amp (though still on the dryer side), as was the M.
I haven’t, at some point I’ll make up an adapter. And I should be clear, it’s actually a pretty good listen with the Susvara, if I didn’t have the WA33, I’d probably think it was driving them well.
I’m pretty sure @M0N has tried it, I do think the headphone out is a LOT a more powerful than advertised, just from it driving the CA-1A with the TI-1A, which is even, less sensitive than the Susvara.
The MySphere is probably my favorite headphone at the moment, it was 1 and 1a with the Susvara for a long time, but I think with the Studio T it’s taken the #1 spot for me.
I have the 3.2, looks like I ll need to get a 3.1 to pair with the T now based on your and m0n’s impressions
Which also leads to some people giving up too early and selling like new pairs for cheap… well, a big chunk less than new.
I’m sure there are a lot of factors that go into it but, in general, how long does a tube sound its optimal (theoretically) before its performance starts to dwindle?
My understanding is that a tubes transconductance actually increases for the first 50-250 hrs of use, the it’s pretty constant for the vast majority of it’s life there after.
It’s one of the reasons that how a tube measures isn’t indicative of it’s age.
Anyone here have any experience with the studio B and dna stratus comparisons? Wonder what I’d gain/lose with the studio B vs stratus. Or it may not even be worth the swap. Probably just wait and maybe down the road upgrade to something like a stellaris. And if I went with the studio B I’d probably try out the 300b option.
I really enjoy the stratus, just curiosity getting to me
Would be using the Nutopia. I like what the stratus does. Just curious of the trade offs. One is probably a little dryer with a larger stage. The other is probably a little softer and maybe a tad bit warmer.
You have the tt2+mscaler going into which one?
I would love to hear more about these.
Definitely. I love the Nutopia off the Wavelight > Stratus chain. Just EC curious. What am I missing. Someone try to sell me on the swap haha.
