Dacs and Pre amps with the best remote controls

Never in my life I thought that having a good remote control would be an important factor for picking a dac… That was until I got the project pre box S2 dac, which is a dac+pre amp that has an insanely usefull remote control, its plug & play integrated with roon but also works perfectly with windows software.

with the remote control:
I can change the volume (I really like this preamp, the steps feel so accurate)
I can mute, pause, skip songs and return to the previous ones (windows integrated)
I can choose the input and the filters.

I love how its very simple and has the 2 key features that I need (changin songs and volume).

I rarely see any dac/pre remotes that can change between songs and thats a feature I would like to keep when I upgrage my dac. I also sometimes see remotes like the ADI dac one which has a lot of buttons and I wonder why are they all there for.

What are the best remote controls you guys have used?

Unfortunately the remote on the ProJect unit is superior to many other remotes offered at much much higher price points. The next most useful remote I have is for my RME unit and then lastly the remote on my Vinnie Rossi is also extremely well thought out and well built. Other than those 3 all other remotes I have offer only the most basic features amd I’m simply happy if I don’t need to leave my seat to get directly in front of the unit in order for it to function.
I guess the remote on my Parasound unit is also decent and has more features than average so I should include that one too.

Ive been spoiled by this remote  gonna feel shitty to stand up to change volume or have a keyboard nearby to change song when I upgrade

Can the adi dac change between songs?

If you are using a computer you can use a flirc for a easy way to change songs/pause and even change volume if you don’t mind doing it digitally from windows. As well as other stuff too. It works with literally any and every remote that use a ir blaster I believe, which is pretty much everything lol

But that would control the volume through windows rather than through the dac right? Thats kinda what I wanted to avoid. Still tahnks for the recco, ill see if it helps

yes this was more a solution for not having to use a keyboard to change songs when you decide to upgrade

If it can I haven’t figured it out yet. I don’t think so though, I think the project is one of the few that does.
