Cleaning your headphones

Couldn’t find a relevant thread so I’ll start a new one.
How do you clean your headphones?

anyone have experience with something like this?

I think that Dekoni is selling regular wipes at a vast profit. These are the ingredients:
Water - 33%
Ethyl Alchohol - 9.32%
Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate - 4.19%
Chlorhexidine Diacetate - 0.069%

From the very little I know about cleaning chemicals, I thought that ammonium was actually harmful to some materials.

It’s a basic alcohol wipe, I wouldn’t use one on my gear frequently, at a show where I was looking to sanitize something I could see the value.
Use a microfiber cloth and some sort of cleaning fluid only if you need it IMO.

I need to clean my Utopia to understand if this is my fault or something wrong with this pair that I need to RMA. Haven’t done anything special with them and I’ve never seen any headphone show something like this.

Looks like something reacted with the finish.
That could have been bad prep before the finish was applied, or some chemical used to clean it.
I’m assuming you don’t commonly using cleaning liquids on it, so it’s most likely a manufacturing defect, and I’d talk to focal or your dealer.

never used anything on it, this happened almost immediately after taking it out of the box iirc

Is it the piece where the yoke goes inside the headband? Or the yokes themselves?

not sure I understand, it’s one piece and it shows it along the entire part and on both sides of the headphone

This is mine. The piece that the yokes go into are matte black. The yokes themselves are forged carbon fiber.

dafuq is this on purpose part of the design?
first time I actually see it now in the marketing photos as well

Yeah it’s forged carbon fiber vs the weave type on OG. Supposedly stronger? Idk haha?

lol could’ve been tragic trying to clean this and not getting anywhere. Not a fan of this design choice but their sound quality is what really matters

I like it more than the usual carbon fiber weave print thata been used to death all over. Carbon fiber is like wood particle board, the weaves are there to make it look nice. Its nice to see something different and a bit more understated, even if it looks a little like half assed camo.

It was actually a highlight of the design when revealed.

I usually skip the marketing fluff and go straight to sound quality opinions etc

Man that looks like shit lol if that’s intended…

OG looks a lot better imo

I like the look of the forged carbon, glad you realized it was intentional

Headphones are all over the place design wise because it is a way to “stand out” besides the audio. I think the 1266 looks like ass, the headband on a Sus being the same design in a $800 model as it is on a $4000 model is weak. Meanwhile I love the insudtrial look of the D8K but I’ve been told is looks horrible.

The Focals are relatively inoffensive and have a don’t rock the boat look to them but you do run out of way to make the same basic design different and exciting. I think they went forged simply because carbon weave is so played out in everything.

Speaking of cleaning though, I think a good marketing strategy from a high end vendor would be to make them easy to clean and maintain and make that a selling point.

The black and gold model is extremely attractive i dont have much interest in the Final headphones but that one is an eye catcher.
