Audio Technica R70x vs Sennheiser HD600

I’m not nearly as articulate as some in what I hear, but some random thoughts I’ve had today.

Got in both the R70x and HD600 in the last few days, running both primarily off of the WA-8. Spent 2 days with the R70x and just put on the 600 after lunch. I quite like both. R70x is competing for most comfortable set I’ve owned, and is surprisingly detailed and balanced in signature, while the HD600 is a bit more of a mids vocal/instrument specialist as expected, and perhaps just a touch behind in detail from initial impressions. R70x might also be a little more forgiving of poor recordings. HD600 feels a bit more intimate in staging and not quite as open, which may contribute to seeming a little less detailed, as there’s less separation/space between notes. I’d say R70x takes depth and imaging accuracy. I don’t find either lacking in the low end on the WA-8, and was actually surprised at the quantity, given reputation. Neither has super tight or impactful bass, but no real complaints, especially for both acquisitions being <$250.

that’s nice to hear, the R70x is usually complemented and recommended at times over the senheiser since it apparently has better extension both ways. And interesting impressions but how did u find the difference in timbre btw? And tonal balance :eyes:

Have been thinking about getting the R70x as a step up from my 500x for a long while. Maybe this year?
