Too many to put in title, for all ANUK source gear
Does anyone have listening experience with Audio note lower entry level dacs? AN 0.1x or AN 1.1x.
Any info is welcome.
Hello,
Do only the Ank Uk or also the Ank kits from Canada count in this threath?
I mean they are similar, or the Ank kits can be purchased and assembled by yourself.
In the meantime, they also build it ready-made for an extra charge.
I recently looked at the Ank Kit Dac 2.1,4.1 and 5.1, which you can buy ready-made.
I just don’t know if they are the same Dacs as Ank UK.
About the 2.1 Signature i think is not bad or buy a finished 2.1 version.
Hi AN 1.1x: yes, listening tests in friends place. Not convincing for me, really entry AN Level and not worth the price, my opinion.
With what you’d like to match it?
Was also thinking about used 4.1x Balanced, but than I saw Abbas Audio, so waiting for the 3.2SE from Abbas Audio
We do have here an AN dealer (only AN gear), listening to a complete €375k AN setup: very impressive, if someone likes that sonic
ANK: is not Audio Note different circuits, cheaper components. Even they are sold by AN UK (at last some years ago, think now just through US?) it is really for DIY.
Thanks… I Ido not want an ANK, (DIY). I was strictly looking at AN UK. What level do you need to look into to be satisfied with their products. Comparing with Baltic 3, Aqua La Scala or Merason Dac 1. Jay Iyagi on You Tube was comparing the 0.1x to the Terminator +???
…well Jay’s comparison i’d ignore
There is now a new 0.1x/II coming out…
To be honest, i’d not buy any Level of AN DAC, without having your whole chain aligned to that kind of sonic.
I’d have to agree on that, they are extremely picky, you really need to make sure your system has good synergy with them, and they are very dependent on the digital source. If you wanted somewhat like the ANUK sound but less synergy dependent (but still pretty picky) I’d look into SW1X
Great advice!!!
I can’t say exactly what the synergies are between Diy and AN.
Maybe others know more.
Nevertheless, there are reviews to be found and not too few where you have to be careful between Diy and AN.
I have read a few reports where the results were positive.
And many reports also contain good equipment qualities in the chain that was in demand at the time or that went very well.
I have not heard that there are any differences between Diy and AN.
The finished An that was built in England deviates minimally from the Diy, I have the impression.
For example, additional XLR output, input with USB port, coax connection.
The Diy for example have no Xlr output and Usb is retrofittable according to the Ank kits.
I have also spoken to the owner of Ank Kit who unfortunately was in England when I wanted to ask him something and wanted to get back to me.
And he told me that he was at AN’s headquarters for business.
So I guess the two devices are not too far away from each other.
It’s possible that the An may have some small differences in sound compared to the Diy.
For me personally, there are a few things that I find good and not so good.
It has a very analogue design, unlike the others in Mon’s review, which are technically better.
But that doesn’t have to mean anything bad.
Personally, I think that with a DDC over coax you can certainly get something out of it.
And the sound will still remain very analogue.
Personally, I miss a second output and another direct connection source.
Technically, it’s almost oldschool, so I wonder how well it will work with old music and with new music that has been mastered on the PC, or that has been processed more with music than with instruments in the past.
The concept was originally created when cd’s were still being bought and it might be difficult with streaming.
I personally think that there might be advantages and disadvantages where a Baltic Amber 3,Spring 3,Morpheus and many more would do better.
That’s more my thought with the price tag that you might have to make a deduction.
Of course, I could be completely wrong about my assessment.
Agree. AN goes best with Vinyl, CD and thats why the offer everything around it.
Like said, if you go higher level, it’s outstanding synergy.
The AN store over here is owned by some real audiophiliac and when he showed me some of his ‘favorite’ AN setup, we are talking about starting around €250k yes, awesome, but he had not any streaming device, besides some 90€k turntables attached… you see sometimes level4+ AN gear on audio-markt.de from him…
