I think the stock (leather) pads on the LCD-24 line up pretty closely with the stock sound of the 2.2pf if you’re looking for that analog. That bass-into-midrange “melt” with a touch of treble sparkle is how I hear both stock configurations, though the LCD-24 has comparatively less bass quantity and more treble.
The vegan pads have a mild decongestion effect, cleaning up the midrange alongside taming the problematic treble areas for me. With the identical vegan pads, the 2.2 PF have a more diffuse, car-speaker-like presentation, whereas on the LCD-24, still quite stage-y, is better in sound localization and pulling out detail.
I was tempted to pad-roll while I had the LCD-5 on hand, but given that they had specifically tapered pads meant that I likely would’ve ruined the sound. Some early impressions of the LCD-5s are promising (https://www.head-fi.org/threads/lcd-5s-the-latest-flagship-planar-magnetic-headphone-in-a-legendary-line.979271/post-19014372), but man that comfort.
