Ambient music and experimental ambient has really grown on me in the past couple years. There is something so special about the many different styles and emotions that can be found in these sounds. It is a great tool for studying and working. It can help to relax and relieve stress as well. It can make one more contemplative, good for meditation or exploring your inner self. Some ambient tracks just make me feel things no other song can. I thought it would be cool to make this thread where ambient music fans and anyone really can share ambient music they enjoy.
I will start off with a sample of some of my favorites.
This entire album is very special to me, I often listen to the tracks while taking a shower. There is something very calming and soothing about it, and it helps me release my emotions and tension that builds up.
Eluvium is one of my favorite ambient artists, and this is probably my favorite track. Stirs something very deep in me. He has many different songs with many different emotions.

Another personal favorite, I love the way the natural sounds are incorporated into the melodies of this album. Leans more experimental.
I find it pretty fascinating following Ambient music from its origins to how a vein of it has now re-emerged in mainstream/internet culture.
Ambient, having influences in French Impressionist music, influences a bunch of Moog synthesizer music in the '70s which becomes the sound direction for Haruomi Hosono & YMO (Yellow Magic Orchestra) spearheading Kankyou Ongaku / Japanese Ambient/New Age albums. That kind of sound then proliferates through J-pop, VGM, etc. Sample culture in the West then takes hold of it in the 2010’s with indie bands, hypnagogic vaporwave, and eventually mainstream pop to a degree.
Going experimental, you get stuff like Easley Blackwood Jr.'s microtonal compositions. I don’t know if this classifies as ambient, but def. has a similar feeling to the Mort Garson’s stuff from above.
Not to mention the whole Western side with Brian Eno and Kraftwerk influencing a bunch of artists like Aphex Twin, etc. Then field recordings get thrown in the mix at some point.
This is really cool! Thank you for the information on this, it’s fascinating getting to hear where different types of music came from and how they have influenced things.
Here’s another addition:
^ This album is such a cool journey, I love these ambient albums that make you feel like you are exploring new places and traveling through your mind.
Recently found this guy, I really like his style. This video is super cool because you get to see what is going on with all the equipment and stuff.
This soundtrack leans towards being more of an ambient style and I think it does so very well for the game it is composed for. I have never played it myself but the soundtrack is very nice.
