Idk? I have 4 pads and not those lol.
I have a pair on the way.

I wish I liked the Auteur Suede Solids on the AC as they’re the most comfortable. I think they’re the only ones I’m going to sell though. I’m keeping the Caldera Thins, Caldera Suedes and Bokeh Suedes.
I lost interest in buying another set of zmf hps, but after trying my zmf with the brise cable, I’m kinda getting interested again lol.
Would you say the Caldera are similar-ish to the VC, or a bit more neutral in tonality?
So I’m finding the Caldera from the DNA Stellaris on the 1/4 output with TRS down (Low) and TRS up on the second switch (0db) to be the best option. More juice I believe which helps the dynamics of the Caldera. Plenty of impact, great separation and layering, and I feel it’s pulling plenty of detail vs something like the MJ3.
Get the same results with the D8KP.
If you were going to try the Atrium, would it be better to go open or closed? I felt the VC was a no brainer for the Verite.
Many like the atrium, and how it’s a fun headphone, not the most detailed but enjoyable. Is the closed back the same?
Are the vocals pretty recessed?
I liked the open. It os one of the few headphones i want back after selling, but i sid get a good return on it.
Vocals are not recessed on the open imho, it is very bass and mids heavy, but soft on treble, transients and detail. The semi open mesh helps here a lot imho.
Ok thanks. Did you try the closed? Are they close?
Only the open, i did not have interest in the closed tbh.
The one thing i use to keep me from rebuying is that ill never get the limited one i had back. And the design us loose and clumsy. The cans always want to spin on themselves and hit into each other. Even when wearing them it reminds me of a heavy blanket using its heft to stay put rather than a snug fit. I didnt find them heavy, just that feel of it used its weight to drap and snug things up.
Ok cool. Yeah I like the fit and comfort of the Caldera. More than D8KP.
I have the Atrium Closed and don’t find the vocals recessed at all. I also got a chance to spend a week with an Atrium Open, though it was before I got my AC. They are both excellent headphones, and I don’t think you can go wrong with either. It really depends on whether or not you need a closed back for you situation.
The other reason to choose the AC is the outstanding bass that really reaches down into the sub bass. The AO has excellent bass as well, but bass lovers might prefer the closed version.
Ok thanks! Great info.
I hear the Caldera closed is being passed around as a prototype and hear good things. I wouldn’t mind having a nice, closed back again. Especially if it sounds open like I hear the AC is.
I currently have an Atrium Open, and the vocals are definitely not recessed.
I don’t recall what all you have now, but I really enjoy the Atrium as a counterpoint to the Utopia. I have both, and the Atrium is very enjoyable on its own, or when I want a break from the sharp edges of the Utopia.
Apparently Zach showed off some caldera closed prototypes this weekend and people were pretty excited about the design. I guess it deviates from last closed back designs.
I broke out the Atticus for the first time in months and forgot (like I do every time) just how great these headphones are. Yeah, they’re slow with transients and some songs sound noticeably slowed down if I really pay attention to it, but there is something so fun and engaging about the overall signature.
I had been using the Ori suede which really improve the overall signature imho and tried the Eikon suede pads, but they were darker and more enclosed. On a whim, I tried the Auteur suede and holy shit, these are easily my favorite pads on the Atticus. They brighten it up a TON, but not in a bad way or anything. Cymbals are much more present and guitars have more bite/edge to them.
It’s kind of crazy Zach doesn’t have these on the pad chart for the Atticus at all.
Any news about the Caldera Closed?
Seems like only a few people have heard it on Head-Fi? They didn’t seem to indicate as substantial of a difference compared to the Caldera Open (as opposed to say the other ZMF O vs C headphones).
Should be released at the end of April/May according to Zach.
Zmf Aegis also around the turn will be an expensive pleasure.
Looks like last year’s Camphor burl Ltd where there was. think it was in the summer or possibly even November.
Otherwise you should have a look on YouTube where a video was made that might still exist.
But it looks damn good in the picture.
I have the Aeolus in Camphor Burl and it looks the same so there is that.
