Congrats and my sympathies in advance for the wait. I hope they’re a step above further than their monitor which I enjoyed very much.

Hello,
Thanks for asking.

Ecc88 sounds good, there are some interesting tubes and not too expensive either.

Haha, Nick sold me on them after praising the monitors so much. Wasn’t too much over the price of those and would have cost me the same once I factored in stands.

Those look sooo cool. I bet they will sound great.

Picked up a used pair of Klipsch The Fives for under $500, going to give it a try as a replacement for the cheap Samsung soundbar in my living room:

It might not work out just due to the weird shape of my living room (one of the speakers is going to be stuck near a corner), but worse comes to worse, these can probably live upstairs.

They’re surprisingly forgiving, more so if you have a separate sub and use the digital crossover.
One of mine is 8inches from the wall the other is backed up against an opening with 8+ ft of space behind the port.

I received an iFi Supanova today.

So far I’m digging it. I have it connected to an LTA MZ3. It’s definitely an improvement with a clearer, cleaner image, and a blacker background.

It’s more impactful than I anticipated because I have it connected to an iFI Powerstation with an additional iFI iSilencer plugged in.

A solid recommendation for anyone that doesn’t have a regenerator (PS Audio advices against using any active noise canceling devices).

I’ve been wanting to check one of those out but they’re not avail anywhere. I’ve been hesitant to mention anything since I still want to do a bit more long term A/B but I picked up one of the ifi purifier things, used, the little white cylindrical ones… and it clearly helped my desktop system. Enough that I’m looking to snag an additional one or two as they’re supposed to be able to isolate and offer additional improvements.

I really like iFi’s ANC tech. It works well.

I was surprised that the cable had as much impact as it did since I have the Powerstation with an additional Purifier attached (same essentially as the SupaNova).

I saw that Bloom Audio had some in stock recently. I lucked out and got mine used from a friend that upgraded to the PS Audio PP3.

Wow that looks awesome, really like the look of cables with the clear sleeving. How flexible is it?

It’s actually pretty flexible for the thickness, but it’s not gonna bend too much. It’s kind of heavy with the ANC module though.

@Polygonhell has one as well. Got his in a deal I believe.

Don’t you dare blame me when you finally get them and after tweaking your stuff for months and then listening to them for a year you come back saying, “ Meh, they are OK but if i only spend another $xxxxx.xx amount i bet i can hear Angel farts better.” :innocent:  :pinched_fingers::confounded::confounded::money_mouth_face:

Out of curiosity, what solder have you been using? I’m asking because knowing you, I know you didn’t skimp.

I like the look of the flat braid, I’ve always done round braids, but I do like how that looks.

Thank you for the compliment, I have no idea if this will live up to that!

I’ve used a few but I have ended up preferring Sn99 Cu0.7 lead free rosin core solder. Although this tends to be quite cheap it has a couple of qualities (apart from the lead free) that I like. It needs a high temperature to melt and I like that I can use the viscosity at lower temperatures to my advantage with fiddly small connections. More important to me is the high ductility when properly heated so that it forms very good bonds with twisted wire. It’s a bugger to get it to flow nicely sometimes but I find the results are very strong even with small contact areas which is ideal for cables and I am far less likely to get breakages or partial bonds.

Thank you! I usually do round too but I tried this on some little interconnects and really liked the result for this kind of splitting cable. It’s also very twist resistant

Next up is a quality balanced cable for my modded DT880 and that one I think will be round as it is a single cable end to end. If there is interest I’ll happily post my cables all together in a thread as I make them. I plan a few this year, the DT880, HD660s, A custom AES/EBU cable for my streamer project and custom length RCA interconnects now I have my setup worked out on my desk.
