Bought some music today:
This artist makes some amazing hybrid orchestral stuff. Honestly wish they got more support, hybrid orchestral is a niche genre and often overlooked. I bought their whole discography.

Also bought this album, it came up in M0N’s recommendations to me one time and I liked it, and I had to buy it at some point. Kind of experimental rap with an interesting aesthetic. Love it.

I liked the sound of the few tracks of theirs I demoed so ordered the whole discography as well. For about 12 USD, seems like good bang for your buck. Looking forward to listening on my system later.

The only thing that I didn’t like about my Whammy is the rear power switch. So I got in touch with Modu shop who make the chassis for DIY Audio Shop and arranged to have an extra hole drilled in the standard front plate so I can mount a front power switch. I was impressed by how helpful they are and how quickly everything was arranged. So it arrived this morning. I already have the switch so sometime this week I’ll install it.

It should take more than 6 weeks to manufacture but they made it in 3. Plus I got this chunky power cable as a bonus from them. Might be my last upgrade in electronics for the time being, but who knows.

Definitely will be curious on your thoughts when you get it in. Enjoyed it when I got a demo but would have liked more time lol

I got it in today. Just plugged in all and had couple of tracks on each set. Unfortunately I am not able to have longer session due to tooth pain but very early feelings are very good. I was surprised how nice hd600 sounded on it. Same would go for sus and fostex but will try to make some sort of write up with more listening time.

Thanks for recommending it @M0N

That is a nice looking piece physically and specifications. Will be looking forward to hearing how you like it with the TH900 and especially the Susvara.

Congratulations,
How much did it cost, if you don’t mind me asking?
Unfortunately I didn’t find a price on the site.
Otherwise it looks very reasonable .
Which tubes are actually installed?

It is 3700 EUR new from manufacturer for non SP version which I have. SP has speaker taps and I think even more power and is 3999 or so. Regarding the tube I believe it is only one E88CC tube but have no idea what is pre installed in terms of brand. I can ask Thomas from Paltauf or open the thing and come back on this later with more information.

My new rack came in today. I still need to perfect the cable management and positioning, but so far I am very happy with my purchase.

The Verite BE Suede pads arrived and they are OK, I do like how neutral they are but they are most definetly NOT more neutral than the Suede Eikon pads and the Suede Eikon pads actually have more punch so I still prefer them. Guess it’s nice to have these just in case but I really think the Suede Eikon pads are the way to go for the VC.

Also! The Sylvania tube arrived!!! I put impressions already on the Woo Audio portables thread. But what I really would like to point out is that the tube actually comes with a small hex key and once of these pincing tools! I was surprised to see it but glad to know that they include it because they are absolutely needed for changing the tubes! Also ngl I think it’s super awesome that It’s from Japan as it has pure Japanese letters LOL. Altho the tube itself is apparently made in the USA.

Hey, same!

Impressions: Yup, improvements across the board. More resolution in general, blacker background, improved timbre, dynamics, sounstage, took the harshness out, etc…pretty satisfied after first listen. Finally getting a taste when people say that sounds appear out of nowhere (it’s kind of eerie). The jps power cable I got from @Veritas definitely shown through when plugged into the pp. Much easier picking out the differences.:ok_hand:

Is that a Stickley that PP3 is sitting atop?

I bought some Oreas after some of the chats in the tweaks thread. Looking forward to hearing if these make a difference!

I bought them a while back, 3 bronze for my Int Amp, and 3 blue for my DAC. They probably do something but I bought them for the way they looked and for the fact that they raise the LTA INT up a good inch plus which will help ventilation.

The cabinet I use for my system has so much mass (includes a 55 lb power conditioner) in addition to the system components that I doubt large vibrations get transmitted in the first place, but these could/would certainly help dampen micro vibrations.

Getting the Gaias for sure for my speakers though.

Gaias helped quite a bit with imaging for my speakers. I would be down to get more IsoAcoustic stuff for the rest of my gear. At the moment, I am using a ball bearing hack.

I got a response from Paltauf today. It is one E88CC from JJ. So I guess there is some room for small improvement with swapping it for something nicer later on.

Additionally I asked about the gain switch and get to know that low gain is -6db compared to high gain.
