If it is brand new i would ask headphones.com when theyre getting a new one in and if they can replace it. Warranty is fine but i wouldnt want a refurb or have to pay shipping or anything. Maybe even return it until a new one comes ins.
Thats correct. I wont get any answers until new year. ETA for Wandla stock is 2weeks. Hopefully headphones get some and send me one while they figure out wath happened with my unit. Exactly timed during holidays.
Headphones is still useless, or atleast my experience with them. This is the second time I have an issue with a brand new item and they just throw me to the manufacturer. I dont know much about business, but for example arthur from power-holdings-inc will take the item and send a brand new unit no questions asked. He will deal with the manufacturer. They said they cannot do anything until Ferrum replies which seems fair.
It sucks that the item went bust but it is good that it went bust immediately and not too far later on, it’s always a game of being under warranty time etc. On a good note, I have had to deal directly w/ the manufacturer each and every time except 2x w/ my full time dealer (he was able to replace my items quickly both times ) Dealing w/ the manufacture has been positive except for the extended time it takes depending on the country of origin of the product BUT I have been fortunate in getting NEW replacements as available and several times updated newer models because my own were older and discontinued, which sometimes is a good thing…for the most part. Good luck
I’m holding off on making a major power cable purchase until I have $$$ and a better idea of what I want/need. But to hold me over I wanted to put something decent on the wall-side of the PowerPlant 3. I’ve had good luck with the Pangea SE power cables in the past, so I decided to pickup a 2m AC9SE MK2 cable. It’s specified as 9awg, but actually measures 7awg . Basically a garden hose of a power cable. It came in today, here’s a comparison:
It’s roughly the diameter of the selection switch on the LTT screwdriver . It’s hard to describe how massive this thing is. The 14awg cables next to it are so small by comparison.
So far it sounds good, still running it in. No complaints, it sounds better than the 14awg cable I had in their before. It really sounds transparent to me, which is nice. Nothing is standing out as particularly bad in the sound. And the sound stage is very very deep. So overall it’s a happy stand in for now
Something something adapter from Audeze/ZMF to Utopia from my favorite Singapore small business, Affinity Adapters. I have bought three sets of adapters from this company, for RAD-0, Senn HD6xx, and now this set. Have recommended to a few others who have had great experience with this company too, and best of all they arrive within two weeks! No waiting months with non-responsive emails. Hell, one time they accidentally sent me the wrong adapter and before it arrived already had the right adapter in the mail!
@Souldriver instead of going with re-termination, next time give these little guys a shot. Bonus info, Danceable recommended them to me for use with their cables even though I use them on my former ZMF/Audeze terminated cables.
From my experience, they degraded the sound rather than changed anything (dhc adapters). It’s very subtle and I only noticed it on the yammy hps. I didn’t really do any back and forth testing, but I noticed it as time went on.
Also the adapters were long enough to where they grazed my shoulders at times. I’d rather avoid any accidents and move my head freely lol.
I think you should still go for it, it’s not a big deal unless you’re fussy like me.
After a day with the AC-9SE power cable I have to say, I’m very impressed with it. I did an A/B comparison this morning with the AC-14SE power cable on my V550 amp, and the difference in punch/slam/impact is wild. Anything percussion has a very strong/clear/defined leading edge. Piano sounds amazing. Going back to the AC-14 cable sounds smoothed over and a little lifeless. I don’t know if it’s because the AC-9 is the size of an anaconda (after it swallowed an alligator whole) or if it’s the material/winding within the cable. But whatever it is, it’s working for me.
I liked the iFi cables with V550 a lot. When I switched to PowerPlant 3 I sold my iFi cables, and it lost a little something (gained detail and space, lost a little warmth). The AC-9SE MK2 cable brought a lot of it back. I would say the iFi cables were a touch warmer, and the AC-9 is a touch more detailed / clarity focused. Both are punchy, AC-9 is very punchy. I really liked the iFi SupaQuasar with the v550. But power is tricky, so ymmv. But this was my experience.
