Spanish/Latin Music

La Makinita is a Chilean recording studio space, all over the place in the content of music they share. Pretty much akin to NPR’s tiny desk concerts. Awesome stuff and worth subscribing to.

just listened to this one all the way through. pretty great album as well. I prefer Natalia’s album but Silvana has a sweet quality to her vocals.

Just curious, what does everyone here think of Bad Bunny? I know he’s one of the most well-known international artists currently. I kind of get subjected to listening to him 24/7 when I’m around my tennis team (which is almost entirely made up of guys from spanish-speaking countries), but there’s a few songs of his here and there that I don’t really mind. Not that I enjoy them, just that they are tolerable to me.

It could also be I just listened to it so much that I just kind of got used to it. I’m really not sure. But I’m interested in hearing other’s thoughts on his music.

BROoOOOO

You like kase o?

Thats to this day considered the best hip hop album in spanish maybe only debatable with muerte by canserbero

Both are very different and use all of the tricks in the book of poetry for the lyrics

Kase o is my favorite rapper alive but this disc was his magmun oppus he retired from making albums like this to work on much more laid back hip hop

Also lyrically yemen the song you picked, is a masterclass in southamerican magical realism school of poetry

Nice tracks from rice as well

Oh really? I had no idea frankly, I just happened upon it one day in my spotify and really liked the rhythm and relaxing melodies. That’s cool to know though!

I have heard a song or two from this album, I will have to give it a more in-depth listen though. Thanks for the rec!
Also, I am sure this has been posted somewhere before, but I really like this song:

So I ended up listening to the whole album today and yeah, both are very different. Muerte is much more in your face and quick with the lyrical play, but very good! I like both a lot. I think I prefer El Círculo more for laid-back casual listening, whereas Muerte gets me in a more energetic mood.
Mundo de Piedra and Jeremías 17-5 were especially good tracks.

Yeah muerte needs a special mood, its very grim or agressive at times, very wordplay and storytelling heavy

Im amazed how good the production is for something produced in a basement in venezuela by 1 dude, mr KPU

El circulo was recorded in an island, kase o and his wife were completely isolated from society for around 8 months and their beatmaker sent them beats every day

I actually found another spanish rap album that I think is really good. It is more recent though.
Aranjuez - Alcolirykoz

They use a lot of throwback sounds and vinyl recordings or something, and the flows and melodies are very groovy and chilled out. I like the way they transition between each other without losing the overall feeling in each track. The whole album has been on repeat for me a lot.

My very good friend tony really really likes that album, when I listened to it I couldnt connect to it as much.

I like how you describe it, for me its the oldschool dj way of beatmaking and transitions that stands out nowadays.
