Yeah, they filled the room, just utter control over the entirety of the space and it was easily a 40’ square room. They packed four rows of four seats in the middle of the room, the rest was simply empty space and even just walking into the room, you could feel their presence. I would not have been able to tell the difference between that setup and a full orchestra playing on stage. I couldn’t imagine what they’d sound like in a 20’ X 20’ room.
What do you estimate a system like that goes for? lol They had two subs but actually only used one of them.
I think I’m going to try and step away from everything audio/community related for a few months. Getting fed up of everything, have things to attend to, and working on a massive update to the shit list that’s going to take any energy I’d previously have to respond to stuff on a forum or whatnot. Will still be checking here but not really interested in responding to anything.
I know you don’t really like the attention, but I really have to thank you very much for being such a valuable resource. On top of it, you were able curb the gatekeeping that can happen in this hobby. Gatekeeping that I have been guilty of. I wouldn’t have dived so deep in this hobby and likely would have wasted a ton of money messing around/getting frustrated.

I don’t know if I’d say quite disappointing for their highest end kits (but I think that def applies to their lowest end kits), but I think only the high end ones make any sense to buy (and even then), and all of them pale in comparison to the real anuk stuff. I’d likely rather wait out for a nice price on a real anuk dac that’s older to get a good price. The real magic of the audio note stuff relies on the quality of components, and you just don’t get that in the kits in comparison (also outdated designs)
Added some extra info to the list about my potential biases/interests, added some more rambling things (short ones), and changed some ranks, plan to finally finish descriptions at some point but this years shaping up to probably be a busy one lol so I haven’t had much time recently
I reference that at least three time a week. lol See that you put in the SoTM three musketeers as I like to call them. The upgraded SE versions are great and they’ve got quite a good balance as a threesome.
I think these days the value prospect of the full collection isn’t as good as something like an ultrarendu or opticalrendu + nice psu, but still pretty great overall imo
The opticalRendu has been a pleasant surprise. A lot to massage it to where it is and the power supply is so damned important. I got a chi-fi 7V LPS with it and it just completely takes it a notch down. They’re fine for a switch or a Topping DAC but you can’t unhear the impact on a high end source.
