Replaced by the Sinope, otherwise it would also be at the top lol. I just think having both was a bit redundant. Like having both a horizon and pac on there

That coming from the guy that didn’t “have” to buy a Calisto, cause he had a Weiss. lol I had to go mess that up now.
Oh I just saw it when skimming through the list. No way I’m paying $500 or so more to upgrade from the Calisto. That money can go to other cables (all of them need replacement) or tubes.

While I think the sinope is an upgrade, I also don’t think it’s a massive jump forward or anything, so I wouldn’t worry about it if you are a callisto owner unless you have a really really nice dac and digital source for it

I’m sure it’s an upgrade but not a priority in any way.
In headphones my weakest link by far is the other cables in my chain, then it’s (maybe) tubes. I’m set with headphones, streamer, DAC and amp.
In 2ch weakest link is the speakers lol

@M0N I was looking over the DAP section and noticed that the Sony nw-wm1zm2 (or previous m1) didn’t make it on there.
Was the Sony not worth listing? I had the impression it was a solid option.

While I do like the wm1z, I also think that I only really find myself gravitate toward it if I have other Sony stuff, otherwise I’d rather consider other daps. I do enjoy it and appreciate what it does, but it’s not something I’d own myself in most cases

This is pretty much how I feel. I totaly understand people that view it as the best dap ever made, but it’s not something I go for. Maybe with infinity mk2? But that would still feel like I’m kinda gimping the iem tbh
Yeah it’s lack of technicalities would mar the paring there, but from a tonality perspective it would be nice, but never actually tried that pairup

Well slowly chipping away at that list, adding more stuff/categories and refining, but really lacking motivation for it. Anyways, I need to try more k50+ level sources lol

It’s not like there’s THAT many of them out there. Would love to see you get your hands on one of the Grimm Audio sources.
Also would be curious to hear your thoughts on the complete SOtM “three musketeers” as I like to call them. I know they aren’t super high end but I did find that when combined and having the upgraded versions with caps, wiring and noise shielding, they actually play well as a team. It’s just that their interface sucks balls and you’re pretty much committing yourself to Roon to have an enjoyable front end experience with them.

Pink faun 2.16 ultra (most promising), taiko extreme (no because of company), apparently innuos statement (skeptical it would be better than the k50), the grimm (seems interesting but harder to get, also skeptical on sonic merits), aurender n30sa + clock (questionable value), kalista dreamplay xc (more cd focused but does also operate as network player, questionable value because of that), melco n10/2-s38 (skeptical it would be at k50 level), or go with a custom buildout from some that I know in the industry
But really also might be interested in upgrading to the oladra but there’s not enough info out yet to say if that’s worth the price jump
Admittedly I don’t think sotm really offers anything that I’d be looking for right now, but I did enjoy their advanced ii series products like the 200ultra neo se + tx usbultra se + sps-500, that’s actually already mentioned on my list I think lol

Bumped into a couple of Pink Faun things in the for sale, they certainly look ferocious.
Maybe I should just try and find someone with a K50 in DC next week and give it a listen.

tbh just fuck it and leave it like this. It’s already one of the better sources of information out there(best maybe) by a mile and I know everyone thanks you for the effort and can use it in many ways like is.
