What tips does everyone like with the Infinity?

No tips, go custom

But when I did have the universal I used symbio peels with mine

I like the E-Pro horns

I like both the symbio w peel and epro horns for different reasons, jvc spiral dots have also been interesting but didnā€™t fit deep enough for me

I put this off for SO long (mainly because I wanted to avoid disappointment), but i finally decided to try the infinity on the crayon cha-1. I donā€™t have any daps so I was stuck with the desktop amps i have. It was horrible on the allnic and better on the modwright, but still kinda bad. So the crayon was my last hope andā€¦ we got a hit!

If I had to describe it, itā€™s a very expressive iem, especially in the mids. Loads of impact (in the mids), detail, texture, dynamics, and control. The midrange kind of just pops out of nowhere, while bringing out a bit of seduction and charm without going overboardā€“itā€™s interesting for sure. Bass and treble kind of take a back seat because the midrange is so standout, but itā€™s not bad at all. The bass is noticeably more textured, tighter, and more detailed than something like my ie900 but I think the ie900 bass sounds more natural overall despite it not being in the same tier, although honestly the performance gap isnā€™t all that huge considering price (just in bass). Finally, the treble is quite smooth and unfatiguing but itā€™s not lacking in extension or energy.

Iā€™m glad it worked out in the end, I was a bit upset having an iem like this just sitting in the drawer not being used lol. Really the only thing holding this back is the cable, itā€™s not a bad stock cable but Iā€™m not really getting much in terms of blackness, spatial depth, and refinement. So that being said, time to look for a cable!

Any recs (aside from the already mentioned eletech and plussound)? Or are there any mfg that anybody is curious about? Budget is around 1k, ideally lessā€¦

Preference-wise, I would like a bit more energy in the treble and warmth in the bass, but Iā€™m willing to try anything tbh.

If youā€™re at that price I do really like the plussound copper+, I personally think the eletech stuff Iā€™ve tried ends up going too forward, but depending on the setup that might work in favor (although Iā€™d wonder if it would go too far in your setup lol), but I honestly havenā€™t found too many things that work as well as the stock cable tonally, outside of the direct upgrades from rhapsodio themselves. I think if you really want a signifigant upgrade from the stock, youā€™ll mostly be beyond 1k imo, unless you find really good used deal

How does the plussound compare to stock?

I think so, itā€™s already pretty forward.

Oh interesting, what do you use on yours, the Evo? Do you mind listing those that you tried, so I can cross off those options?

Yeah I realized last night the stock is $750 lol. Looks like Iā€™ll ā€œhaveā€ to jump to that $2k range Iā€™m guessing. I was thinking brise but it might end up too relaxed up top. But I found out brise might have some of their specialty silver cables lying around which Iā€™m pretty curious about (unless youā€™ve tried a brise on it and didnā€™t like it).

Evo copper, and to me itā€™s offered most of the technical improvement of the higher end cables yet really just nails the overall tonality and focuses of the iem best. The stock cable and the upper are just extremely specialized, with some of the other aftermarket cables you can get a more complete and well rounded iem, however I think you lose some of the things that make the infin so unique and enjoyable to listen to at the same time. But can see some liking other non stock options over stock depending on their use cases and other source pairings.

For what Iā€™ve tried, Iā€™ll say the Evo has been by far the one Iā€™d suggest the most, but otherwise for what Iā€™ve liked:

Eletech Aeneid: pushes forward, but extremely technical, gives great stage overall that is better extended while maintaining awesome depth, great resolving power, time domain wise it feels fairly natural, and adds some extra weight to the mids to be honest, but it does become a bit bright and too forward with some pairings or music, so good, but be careful lol. But technical beast, and in most cases isnā€™t too much assuming you donā€™t already have a bright leaning source, or arenā€™t too sensitive to forward things. Great directness and texture really keeps this pairing alive for me.

Plussound copper+: Helps out on adding more bass weight and warmth with a bit nicer impact and slam as well, some improvement in texture, perhaps a bit more rounded than others in the range ever so slightly overall a positive change, wider stage thatā€™s a bit less deep but plenty good still, a bit more relaxed overall, still pretty technical overall, likely a pairing that I might use most often if I still had it. Itā€™s a nice balance that I think still maintains a lot of the good things about the infinity without going an entirely different direction

Things that were either overly limited in focus:

Wagnus OmniSheep: Way too midrange and micro focused, and somewhat soft, and itā€™s bass deficiency didnā€™t help, nice with some other iems but already a very specific cable, just didnā€™t match here. ZillionSheep NU-1 was better, but still not really what I was looking for.

PW 1960s: While I appreciated the added weight and punch in the bass, I found it kinda overall lacked energy from the pairing, lacked overall engagement. Felt similarly about the 1950s, felt dull.

Iā€™ve tried some lower end ones, but wasnā€™t impressed enough to comment at all

Also, I do have the dita cable now, have yet to try it since Iā€™ve been busy, will get to that eventually lol (although apparently thereā€™s some iffy things surrounding that cable that I didnā€™t know about it, hopefully it works out so I donā€™t have to sell it when thereā€™s controversy around it)

Brise could be viable, they tend to tread the line of being a bit more on the relaxed and smoother side of things without losing directness, but I have no idea how it would do with the infinity tbh

@M0N Thanks again for this info, I went with the evo copper in the end. Already on hand with a couple of hours burned in (def needs more) and Iā€™m getting the performance I wanted. Sounds great with buttery texture dripping into my ears lol. :ok_hand:

Some initial thoughts on the Infinity Mk2 Plus. Iā€™ve tried it on both the d1-unity + AIC-10(1956 Radiotechnique), as well as the Hiby RS6.

On the desktop setup, right out of the box, itā€™s good. Really good. Best Iā€™ve heard the AIC-10 sound with the Radiotechnique 12AU7, which I generally feel is too airy and lacking in overall impact. Not the case here. There is some synergy happening right now, and Iā€™m glad I had that particular tube in.

The RS6 is a different story. I was a bit concerned that they werenā€™t going to play nice given what Iā€™d read on the Head-Fi thread, and I was right to be. Maybe that could change once the Mk2 Plus burns in properly, but right now things sound over-saturated and too wet.
