I just added a picture from a 6 Moons review in my original post. You should be able to check what it’s set to if you open up the case.
Yep, internal switch and it was on 110/115v.
God I feel dumb. I wish he mentioned that or that was better documented but I didn’t think to open it up.
Today is one of those days that so much is going on and i let myself get annoyed.
Hello,
If it is set to 220V when you receive it and use it in America, it shouldn’t really matter, I think, because the maximum output in America is 110/115 volts.
Conversely, however, Europeans must be careful when buying equipment from America that it is set to 220V.
Otherwise it will burn out.
The same applies to Japanese and Chinese products.
If there is no changeover switch, a changeover transformer must be used.
That’s what happened to my wife’s 3 printer a few months ago.
Full of anticipation, the power supply unit and mainboard burnt out.
With the Mitsubishi toaster from Japan, I have to use a transformer that regulates down to 110V. Because it doesn’t have a switch.
The US cables should not actually work in the European network because the pin is too long.
But Queststyle will certainly have an answer to your question.
I just started from the general side, as is usual.
Btw @Souldriver have u tried the 800s and Atrium on that amp btw? I’ve heard great things about it
Anybody hear the CMA Fifteen? thoughts or impressions on it? good headphone pairings? good DAC pairings if the internal isn’t great? and compared to to the Twelve?
So i remember seeing this and meaning to respond. In the end, no i didnt. The 800rs didnt hit the spot i wanted and were a bit too big to keep near the pc to replace the rnhp. My impressions mirror what mon has wrote, liquid with detail you wouldnt expect from something at that level. I just believe that i am looking for something woth a more definitive edge and less smooth for the atrium.
Get a 428 and a LPS
Couple of thoughts on CMA Fifteen:
-Aeon 2 sounded punchy with this amp unlike most other sources
-didnt like how biodynamic HPs sounded on it
-closed in soundstage
-bright leaning
-mm500 sounded decent apart from the inherent shouty/mid forward tonality
-good to know that this current delivery focused setup works well with planars
I’m not sure if this is necessarily the right place for this, but I got a CMA18 today and just wow. I’ve only been listening for a couple hours and have kinda been hopping between configurations testing the different features but I just slotted it into my main chain as pure DAC duty and I am thoroughly shocked and impressed by this thing. It is several tiers above the M15i (and I’d fucking hope so for the price, though I got it for “free” through Amazon Vine to review) and I’ve been eyeing one for months but couldn’t justify the price, but had a feeling it would be my endgame portable and so far it’s looking good. It does have a bit of a noise floor with BA and EST IEMs, slightly less with pure DD sets and almost no noise with a pure planar, but even just adding in a piezo like the Hook-X and the noise comes back. IEMatch 4.4mm totally kills every single bit of that noise and if I’m being perfectly honest with myself, if I’m actually using this thing as a portable when I’m out and about, I really don’t care THAT much about min/maxing performance and I don’t mind having the IEMatch in the chain if I absolutely have to and personally it’s a non issue. My biggest surprise was that it doesn’t current starve with my HE6se v2 even with -6db of EQ preamp but I do also end up running it at 100% but it holds together somehow. Was weird getting up from my desk and walking to the kitchen with my HE6 on the whole time running LDAC at 24/96, which I gotta say is getting really really damn good.
So far, I couldn’t be happier but I gotta give it some more time and find its limits and I absolutely don’t even have a choice in the matter, but I gotta spend like $40 on a case for it because damn this thing is so slippery.
With a Holo Red feeding it, it definitely has a pretty sharp jump in technicalities too vs just USB from my PC.
If the cma 18 had bluetooth output instead of only input I would insta buy it
The m15i made me an instant fanboy its almost impossible what it does with its size and price
I expect extremely good things about the cma18 but for portability I prefer something like the ifi gryphon
Pocketeable and bluetooth output
In fact I dont know a single device that beats the gryphon at that so im just waiting for a gryphon 2 to come out and use that.
I really wish questyle had gone with a BT out
I keep using my m15i for walks it sounds way too good.
How does the 15 and 18 compare to something like a Mojo or Mojo 2?
I dont kniw if you still need the answer but here goes
I prefer questyles sound signatures over chords because to my ears they sound more natural and I like the way they separate the instruments, but the chords are also great and they do have a bit more settings if youre into that
To me
Cma18>mojo2>cma15>mojo
Keep in mind if you plan to use any of these as a dac for another amp eventually the cma would be better for a balanced amp and the mojo for unbalanced amp but both would get the job done.
The mojo seems to have more power but somehow the questyle technology just keeps pushing boundaries and sounding good.
The CMA 800R was released by the end of 2012
Ever since Questyle has been releasing some extremely good DAC+Amps, specially smaller portables, but there have been no more standalone amps at all, much less monoblocks.
I started with the Questyle m12 and it was so good that I had to get the m15, I was completely mindblown since I got it at a discount for $170, testing against modi 3 magni 3+ stack, it clearly had more power which I thought would be impossible given its size.
Every single synergy was better, their house sound, signature, its like it was made for me, it could even do the 470ohm r70x full and clean enough to be enjoyable.
The result: I have gotten every Questyle portable except for the DAPS released prior to the current TOTL the QPM. All of them punch above their price.
Besides the sound, every feature is as simple as possible and just works “better” than whats usal for their price.
For example the CMA18P:
-Great usb implementation.
-Even better on toslink, sounds way too good.
-Best bluetooth ive ever used on any portable, never interrupts, sounds way better than one would expect from LDAC, doesnt glitch, extreme distance.
-Headphones are SE only? No problem at all, still great sound and tons of power.
-Great Line ins, great line outs.
Obviously nothing is perfect, for this same product the battery lasts a mediocre time, there are some (tho few) bad synergies and the usual questyle sound signature may not be for everyone.
…
To close out I have to point out, Questyle’s last DAP was released almost 6 years ago and its still one of the best DAPs available in the quickly evolving portable market.
The Questyle QPM DAP kicks so much butt for a 2019 product its ridiculous, specially when considering its power, size, weight and long lasting battery against much younger products.
Just like that, the CMA 800R from 15 years ago IMO still competes extremely well at its long since discontinued $3000 retail price for a monoblock pair, but only with the right sinergies, which there are actually quite a few.
Its likely that we get a new much improved DAP, but I wonder why is it taking so long?
Will we ever see the DACless CMA magic again? I can only phantasize what they could do after all these years of extremely good products.
