Orr's audio experiences sharing

Don’t know yet, I need to get a real amp here first to get a true feeling of the system.
I’ll also set it up with a Mass Kobo 465 and Susvara at some point to be able to say something about a headphones setup.

Orr’s unit is pretty much identical to mine but put into one box; separate discussion for pros and cons of this. I helped someone spec this out (thus the custom wood finish) but we decided in the end to make this a US demo unit, and we shipped this to the Florida audio show a few months ago. Now it’s the unit going around for in-home demos.

I wasn’t sure what you felt comfortable disclosing but now that’s out there, thank you for setting this up! Lucas seems great, easy and fast communication and the build quality oozes of expert craftsmanship. I’m very curious to see how it’ll sound and compare to my K50.

The only thing it doesn’t have is Lucas’s new AES module.

My suggestions would be to use a digital IC and power cord to unlock its true potential. No offense to others here (noticed the FTA fan club) but it deserves more than the Callisto.

It’s currently using a David Laboga power cable into the Niagara 5000 and I have two spdif cables the dealer brought with him. I will try my Sinope USB as well.

Sold my last “real” headphone yesterday (Diana MR)… don’t have other in the house and no plans on buying soon. Perhaps a IEM for some portable use but it’s 100% speakers listening the past month or so.

What did you think about the LDMS versus the K50

Just as a feeler, but would you have any interest in a 64 Audio Fourte OG?

haha thanks but this is probably way above what I would want to spend… if i do end up getting something it’s in the few hundreds budget, just to have an option. All the hobby money is focused on the 2ch system and the room.

Do you want those Shures that everyone got from the pricing mistake? I have my pair still just sitting since i cannot use iems.

I’m still waiting for mine…

Got Levante today, set it up in my main system. It has an awful crackling sound from the balanced inputs, even without anything connected to them. I tried three different sources, multiple interconnects, two sets of speakers and even swapped the tubes to others I had. I looked inside but can’t see anything that seems not connected properly or disconnected. Internals actually look amazing.
You move to single ended and it sounds great.

Guess it’s going back for service :pensive:

EDIT: and my etherregen died tonight as well lol

Oh no, not your luck too.

I so HATE days like this, it happens and sucks the joy out of everything along with making me rethink so many hobby choices
Good luck.

Dayum. You’ve been waiting on it for such a while now too. Is there US service or it’s got to go back back? Maybe they can lead you through a disconnect, reconnect phone session or something that re-seats the offending connection. Best of luck with it today.

Looking at images around, there are a lot of point to point signal connectors. Maybe just something not making solid contact or some surface oxidation? The fact that it’s only on the balanced input is a good sign.
