Is there Life After Roon?

Right, I would believe that’s accurate. I felt the same with the innuos. Just not understanding the need for squeeze if you can use tidal connect, local files, etc.

Maybe I’m missing the best part of squeeze. From what I gather it’s not nearly as user friendly as Roon.

Did you use rock as the server when you had the K50 or did you use the K50 as the server?

With Aurender it’s not even Tidal connect, it’s directly integrated to the software. Same for Qobuz, similar to how Roon does it.

I used only K50 for everything when I had it. I can’t say for certain which sounds better, Antipodes or Aurender, since it’s been too long in between them and audio memory and stuff but I’d probably lean Aurender if ever buying a high end source again (assuming Roon isn’t a requirement since if it is, I’d want a source with core capabilities so Antipodes or Rockna probably based on my experiences).

That’s interesting. Pretty cool! Does antipodes do something similar?

At least when I used it no. Antipodes is built as a platform that can run many players on top of it but its own software is only intended for the hardware management. Not sure if that changed or not.
Aurender is focused on its proprietary player software that has control of the closed hardware too. A little bit like Apple vs Android.

The streamers when they have their own player this is typically how they go about it. Reading this thread is going to hound me into trying the Lumin.

I haven’t done a sound comparison of Roon vs. other means in quite a bit of time and back then I couldn’t hear anything. My gear and my ears have gotten better for sure but I wouldn’t give up Roon simply because of the quality of life benefits it brings to the listening. I also use ARC which is great at letting you take your Roon library as well as the metadata and metrics with you which I like.

Lately I’ve been gaming more than listening but as I write this, I just turned my system on about five minute ago for a nice long evening of listening.

I dont use either and am pretty strict to local files, but i believe Qobuz, Tidal, etc are plug ins to LMS. The antipodes LMS iteration is a decently polished version and (grain of salt) i think you can integrate streaming tracks with local files, i think it gets a little matk showing where its from.
