Industry News, Rumors, & New Releases 🤐

I’m disappointed that it’s not a new mouse, I know a lot of people have been waiting for a long time to see new mice from them

Yeah, I’ve sworn off their mice since their switch (and scroll wheel) seems to always develop a double press/click issue. They’ve been good about warranty and even replaced one outside of it but still tired of dealing with it.

I’ve been using the first generation MX Master for so long I can’t even remember when I bought it and it works flawlessly

Ah fair, I really like the shape of the superlight & g303, but I’ve replaced the switches on those anyway

Available for preorder now. It looks pretty cool.

Changeable bias voltage via SD cards? As well intentioned as that is… :grimacing:

You just know that some poor soul with multiple e-stats is going to forget and end up having a very bad day.

Honestly, I think it’s better than the old system. The knob on the old one was kinda too easy to mvke my accident

SW1X apparently working on a tube DDC

Man, I don’t know if I’d want one at that point lol, too many tubes in the chain to care about

Where does it say it’s a DDC? Is there a press release or anything else?

ā€œdigital transportā€ often means DDC or CD player in some older forums. I just assumed it wouldn’t be a CD player cause I didn’t see anywhere for a disc to go in the teaser Pic

Call me confused lol

And I’m not sure what this is going to be but guessing CD Player

I am not seeing any spot where a cd drive is, but I would be interested to see what they do with a streamer transport. Im trying to imagine a cool tube based server/streamer that would have nixies to display bitrate.

  • Valve amplified SPDIF
  • Valve rectified and Choke filtered Power Supply for the Master Clock
  • Valve rectified and Choke filtred Power Supply for the SPDIF signal Output Valve Output Stage

I was just about to order one but then I realized it doesn’t have a valve rectified RJ45 Gigabit Ethernet LAN. I’ll pass.

EDIT: all kidding aside, note the 5 pin XLR i2s output connector, never seen it used before. Also of note, they’re using a pi as the network input and processing for the OS, Volumio etc so don’t scoff at the ability of a good Pi implementation and how much they can ā€œscaleā€.

Abbas has offered a tube DDC, at least he used to offer it. A friend of mine got it, because at the time the builder insisted his DDC would bring out the best out of his DACs.

Here is a video from Passion 4 Sound who tried the DDC with the an Abbas DAC: Abbas 2.2 SE DAC - Inspired design or misguided nostalgia? - YouTube

Separately there is some connection and bad beef between him and the guy who builds the SW1X.

Lampizator uses one in the Padific to bridge the network input to the USB input running diet-pi with Roon bridge.
It’s interesting they don’t enable WiFi, though I suspect adding a radio transmitter inside the box is probably not a great idea for noise.

Just got an email from Moon Audio about yet ANOTHER A&K DAP, but this one actually sounds awesome. The A&futura SE300 has a class A amp paired with a discrete 24-bit R2R ladder DAC, the first for an A&K DAP.

I was really interested in the Luxury & Precision P6 since they are also discrete R2R, but they are so pricey. If this one ends up being decent, I may actually consider getting one. To date, the only DAP I’ve liked is the Hifiman R2R2000 Red. I only liked how it sounded, though. It was an absolutely nightmare to use for numerous reasons. The FiiO M15 (original with dual AKM 4499) was decent, but didn’t pair well with anything other than my Andromedas; the Hiby R5 produced some of the least-engaging sound I have ever heard and its tiny form factor made tiny touch controls awful.

Come on A&K.

EDIT: changed Lotoo to L&P

The current paw golds use an akm 4497 iirc, the old non touch used pcm 1792 which was still mostly sigma delta (hybrid), from what I know there hasn’t been a PAW that’s been r2r, especially not discrete

Try a luxury precision p6 pro, if you want something equally albeit a bit better to use but a lot better sounding lol, kinda similar vein

Only discrete r2r daps I know of are the hiby rs6 and rs8, l&p p6 and p6 pro, cayin n6ii r01, and that’s mostly about it from what I know (aside from the new ak). There’s other r2r daps but they aren’t discrete and are chip (mostly with older ti/bb chips)
