Oouuff I don’t know economically the Shiite is not now.
What kind of tubes are used there?
A tube roll could prove to be very expensive.
I think they could have been bolder and gone for Kt88 or El34 274b tubes.

Unfortunately, it’s not to my taste.
I would rather pay the price of Decware even if it is more expensive.
I can’t imagine Schiit as a tube amplifier either.

It uses 6n6P’s I believe for the bank of 10, there is no direct Western equivalent and they were all made in the same factory AFAIK, so I there wouldn’t be any real reason to tube roll.
Uses 6N1P’s for the pre tubes, there are enough similar tubes to roll those, but there are only 2 of them.

Doesn’t interest me, but it’s will be interested in seeing others impressions.

Huh? They’ve only been making tube amps for about a decade.

Very interesting, not sure what Jason’s comment means in reference to the Valhalla though. I have one and it sounds pretty good for the right headphone (300 ohm), and the price is great for the “tube curious”.

Any ideas on what the Urd transport capabilities are? If it plays SACD I’m quite interested potentially…

I’m paraphrasing here:

It’s basically a Valhalla with 4X the output tubes. However, where Valhalla can be viewed as neutral, somewhat SS sounding in presentation, the Folkvanger is balls out tubey, bloomy, holographic, not that great at measuring. If these are not your cup of tea, don’t buy this amp.

I’m somewhat interested in these, doesn’t look like they are really trying to do a traditional circumaural after all, note the gap in the front/back of the pads. And the transformer box removes the one thing that stopped we even wanting to try a Raal.
Price is surprisingly reasonable, build quality looks kind of so-so though

It does look interesting. $2500 isn’t bad to try if you have the amp to power it (which I’m certain you and many here do).

Looking forward to impressions.

Yes I saw the explanation from Raal I actually quite like the single piece headband, the suspension strap adjustment is probably not an issue in reality, and I can live with the open foam since it’s there because alternatives impacted sound quality (assuming replacement pads aren’t stupidly priced).
It just doesn’t look like a premium product.

Bought one, if nothing else the transformer box gives me an excuse to try an SR1A later

I listened to one at CanJam and was impressed. The foam pads look a little out of place on a premium headphone, but it’s not like you can see them when you’re wearing them.

My favorite listen at CanJam Chicago. Was a wow. So much more usable and comfortable vs the existing model. Made me rethink goals.
