Yeah i picked up a pair of lsx ii a few weeks ago. They are honestly great for the price i got them for. I use nearfield on my desk for gaming and some casual music listening. They do a very good job as a dual purpose set of monitors. I imagine they would work great as a soundbar replacement. The app is great and I definitely recommend messing around with the the dsp settings to adjust them for your room and use case, it is lowkey one of the best features of these.
I grabbed a pair of greens. Ill see how this goes.
That the color I would have picked.
I haven’t seen them at my Costco yet but I’ll keep an eye out. Green is the color I would have picked up as well. It’s nice to see an overall caliber of audio going up and this being sold a consumer level.
Mine is being shipped straight and says online only on the site. With that said i saw a few youtubers grabbing them from the store and many “online only” items have been found in my local store.
Has anyone tried the monitor audio gold series?
I admit freely at this point in my journey of the hobby I’m mostly playing around w/ gear, just for the experiences, it’s like an obsessive compulsion that I’m fortunate enough to be able to indulge in w/ the assistance of Sonus friends and buddies
Perfect example, I currently have 2 speakers sitting side by side. This is very poor placement and practice when trying to set up your system for maximum sound quality so DON’T do it.
So now that I’ve clearly stated that what I’m doing is not audiophile approved let me say, I’ve done this before many times and had similar results w/ other speakers so i decided to write about it. I’ve got a thing for making speakers disappear, it’s a quality I greatly desire in my systems so I’ve focused on it for years, much more than any other characteristic. I get weirdly perturbed and annoyed when i can localize a speaker repeatedly and my opinion of all the equipment starts to sour. Anyway, when speakers “disappear” it’s the best part of the system for me. As i sit here i can stare all i want or close my eyes, either way no matter how hard i try i can NOT localize the speakers nor hear/see the music coming directly out of the transducers reproducing it. As a matter of fact because both sets of speakers are same height the left and right boundaries of the soundstage sound like the other speakers are playing and they are NOT! Both pair of these speakers disappear so well I would happily sit here and take bets for real money
from people and blind test them for hours while they tried to figure out which pair was actually connected & playing and i am extremely confident i would make out well ![]()

The imaging is sharp, crisp, well centered, and defined. The vocals are of small stage height and size, there is stage depth way back into the wall and both speakers extend the soundstage well left and right of their boundaries. Both enclosures are designed and built to get exquisite performance out of their respective drivers and thus I’m having an absolutely terrible and slightly stressful time playing them against each other. Their good qualities are so great and similar that i can solely focus on their flaws BUT their cabinet designs are different enough that their sound character is NOT the same and this is causing my head to hurt a bit ![]()
At some point i will swap out more components and eventually form opinions on both the Voxative Zeth and Charney Audio Companion cabinets and their individual drivers. That’s 4 separate and unique pieces of equipment which individually offer their own character traits and can be used in ways beyond those in my possession. (The equipment in this hobby is so cool and the more i think about it so very misunderstood by the masses.) ![]()
I’m starting to babble and about to go way off topic and onto tangents so I’ll stop here. I had to delete a few paragraphs and end things for now, my brain really hurts trying to figure out what i love and dislike about these 2 speakers. ![]()
I hope that you are thankful every day of how lucky you are in this hobby to have the kind of variety of systems you have at your disposal.
Mashallah!
Hello im looking to import a pair of speakers
The only thing im looking for is that they are bookshelves up to a $3600 used or new, with crystalline treble.
My system is a exogal powerdac and upgraded exogal comet plus with 125 watts at 8ohm, and 2 sbs sp2000 pro as subs. Im also planning to get an elekit tu8500 if it suits the speakers.
Thanks
If you are looking for really clear upper frequency, on both headphones and speakers, I always cater toward AMT tweeter and ribbon tweeter, especially for upper frequency clarity.
Look for some used Salk stand mounts. Some have custom crossovers and would offer allot of value for your money spent over the bigger name brands. Jim Salk retired last i heard so nothing new, all should be used.
Check out the Audiocircle forums. There are always some great speakers for sale on their classifieds.
Thats preciselly what im looking at with monitor audio and ELAC
Thanks im looking into it
Let me see if I can remember, haha… I ordered the Philharmonic and Sierra’s direct from the makers, and the Kali was from B&H Photo Video. Something like 14-30 days’ refund window, between them all.
Still using the fantastic Sierra-1 V2(and your old RCA cables, haha)!
(but still remember the wide imaging I’m missing, from the Kali’s)
Today I finally got a much needed amp upgrade(and switch from integrated to power amp); the old Emotiva BasX A-100 dog swaps with the respectable Nord One MP NC252 SE. Can’t believe I still don’t have an XLR DAC. . . Now I have the perfect 2026 goal, lol. (Soekris 2541, Cyan 2, and Wavelight all seem like winners, worthy of being in a DAC Shootout)
Current goofy chain: PC(USB) > Holo Red DDC > Topping A90 D preamp > SMSL Sanskrit 10th DAC > Nord(RCA)
Any recommendations for <2k small-ish book shelves that AIC-10 will run (10w @8ohm)? Would be used for about half tv/ambient music while in annother room, half for actual listening. I know I want a fairly wide sweet spot as it will be couch listening and that my room is a truly cursed shape. In terms of speaker preference, all I really know i like from show demos is joseph audios crazy imaging and generally speaking, the everything that has impressed me timber wise have all been ribbon tweeters. Couldn’t even begin to tell you what brands I like or anything like that.
Trying to see what’s out there more than anything as tbh, im still leaning towards cheap as hell powered speakers to just be vaugely better than a sound bar.
The most limiting factor will be the amplifier you are trying to use in this application. 10wpc is a tight window you are playing in and the AIC-10 in particular is not generally considered a “go to” amp for this power class.
I think you want something like these…https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650245537-raidho-acoustics-x-1-white-with-matching-stands/
The Rhaidho need more power to perform though.
More realistically for your AIC-10 would be these. https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650264287-sonist-concerto-2-best-speakers-for-tube-amps/
If you really do use the speakers like you mentioned, and maintain the simple expectations you have then it basically comes down to finding a nice used speaker w/in your price range, 10 wpc is fine for some background listening and any speaker despite its design will perform at that minimal level.
Happy hunting ![]()
