That would be pretty sick. Also, not a ton of info on them. The people that have them seem to love them though

Really interesting stuff, always had my eye on them. In terms of separate components, I’ve also really been looking at robert koda stuff like the k-10 or a cj like the gat 2 or perhaps a cat like the sl1 or something

Amp wise still undecided, but if I went off only preamps I’d really be hard looking at the koda, cat, or shindo since for some reason those really appeal to me for some reason lol

Actually, cat out of the running, I don’t want to dick around with separate left and right volume like I do with the lamm

Allnic pre?! Though I doubt it will be on the warmer and richer side of things lol

Might be too big as well

Yeah that ended up ruling out allnic lol, likely not the sound I’m looking for

Now that I’ve got myself thinking about that koda, I really might just bite the bullet and start the wait now. Always wanted a kondo product and while this isn’t it, it’s close enough for me lol, and should be versatile enough for whatever I use it for

Here we googling again! Other than the Shindo and the Riviera, I didn’t know any of the other names.

Actually already owned an accuphase e800, and really it would be a hard sell for me again at least in the us, prices very inflated here although I did like it. Actually might consider luxman again but not for this application (perhaps)

You sold it so obviously it wasn’t a keeper… what about the 2nd separates option?

I might, but it’s just that cost is still pretty inflated in that regard as well imo for what you get. I’m not exactly after best value in this case although I’d like to make sure I still get what I pay for lol

Since you mentioned Kondo, is Audio note also under consideration?
What about the other offerings from Aries Cerat or Viva Audio

Kondo is going to absolutely be pushing price for me with this use case, but I’d love to have one, was actually going to go ongaku for my main setup before I got a good deal on the lamm stuff lol

AC I would potentially buy again, but I really think size and weight wise it’s too much for this use case lol, and I’d probably want to upgrade over what I had which would also likely put me over price wise where I’d want to have been

Viva I’ve already had and I’m not sure if I’d buy again for the headphones and speakers I’m going to prioritize at least

I might have a lead on a k15ex for a preamp so that might be the way I go and look for a power amp to match

Ohhhh  :star_struck: :exploding_head: :pinched_fingers: I know some of the pieces you are talking about…ohhhh
I can’t believe i just did that….I’m giddy with joy for you but simply because i’ve seen, touched and heard a few of these brands at my dealers place personally.

Unfortunate about US pricing on Accuphase. I’ve always thought there was something cool about Japanese Hi-Fi. My friend and I considered a road trip to Canada to pick up some Accuphase amps and see some sights. A Canadian dealer is happy to sell to you in-person, but Accuphase is clear about support… idk they are golden tanks and probably wouldn’t need service for a while.

Yeah I’d have no concerns about reliability lol. Imo a more value alternative to accuphase but also japanese and well made with sometimes similar goals would be luxman or leben, more fairly priced in the us. I do feel as though accuphase is more impressive yet understated sound wise, but it is pricey in the us, in japan I see they’re a decent bit more reasonably priced. There’s a lot of smaller less mainstream japanese amps that are really great as well both vintage and modern lol. The problem with a lot of the smaller japanese amplifiers is that they’re kinda a pain to get out of the country either in cost or they might not even want to sell one to you or do a voltage conversion lol. I was actually kinda thinking of going with a Reimyo I really liked what I heard in the past, but they don’t seem to be around anymore? Was also considering potentially something from EAR, technical brain, audio tekne, phasemation, yamamoto, otomon lab/uesugi research, triode, among others, but ruled out for one reason or another lol

Another company I was looking at power amp wise is triode lab since for some reason it’s one of the few I genuinely really really like the look of, but not an easy way for me to get them (compared to other aforementioned options at least, have personal relationships with dealers who carry what I mentioned in my initial post)

If you run across anything nice that is based on EL84’s pass the name along please. If I manage to sell off a few of my amps I would like something good in the 15-20wpc range based on EL84’s. I have a nice stash of very good mated and matched quads that are being wasted on mid-fi amps.

if you ever decide to sell any EL84s lmk…

I mean since I brought up triode lab, these guys finale audio which remind me of them a bit might have something interesting lol

https://www.finaleaudio.com/el84

ANK makes one

Not as high end but this is also interesting

https://www.promitheusaudio.com/refel84/refel84.html

I’ve only heard these guys referenced once so know nothing about them but might as well mention

Only remember these because they’re weird

I feel like if you want really high end el84 designs, you’re really going to need to go full customs imo

Edit: anotha one J&K Audio Design: EL84 Push Pull Tube Amplifier

Not heard most of these to clarify, just know of tehm

Design an amp to fit your tubes, it’s an insane hobby! lol

Maybe a call to Mr Radu  Send him my tubes and have him build me an amp around them. Stupid tubes have gotten so expensive and harder to find, when you have really good ones in hand I’m thinking it’s may be worthwhile to commission an amp. And it would be all mine :hugs: I’m liking the possibility
Just gotta ask around. Or look for an older amp from one of the boutique builders.
Either way I’ll look into everything recommended.
