Recently I have received a Bakoon HPA-01M from @Alb (who is an excellent seller btw), more impressions to follow as I haven’t had a lot of time lately, but I will briefly say this: this little amp is truly transformative. I have so far only used two headphones, the T1.2 and HE500 both on the current drive output. For the T1.2, though I am still on the fence about it, it’s been turned into a really fun experience, the bass is massively elevated without sounding bloated or overly-warm, and it’s very fast, clean and precise reminding me of what I enjoy on the Fostex 900 series. The slightly metallic upper-mid and treble has been made smoother and more organic. On the HE500, the change is different but also shockingly huge, the overall tonally stays neutral ish although slightly less bright, but the staging saw a huge improvement and there suddenly is a lot of height and depth and I honestly cannot believe this is what the HE500 is capable of. General voicing is also a tad more laid back as I find the HE500 from time to time on the V200 sounding “too tight” and a bit intense. The bass is also more organic sounding and has a lot less of that wall of sound effect that in my experience is present in a lot of non high-end planars, which I think is due to the improvement in staging. On both headphones, I find the resolution takes a slight hit, or at least it is perceived so possibly due to being a bit more smooth, and as a result I think timbre has some trade-off too as it doesn’t sound as realistic/natural (in the sense of how instruments sound in real life, again possibly due to being slightly less resolving) but as mentioned above somewhat more organic (in the sense of sounding less metallic or tight). Personally I don’t mind that as I think the change overall makes both headphones a less fatiguing experience for longer session and for the change alone this is definitely a very pleasant surprise.

You know what, I was gonna message you lol since I know you like the HE500 a lot. I think it’s worth putting a current drive amp on your Wishlist, a good deal might come up, who knows
P.S. like one of your setups I am also coming from listening to the HE500 exclusively on the V200 which already sounds pretty damn good especially for the price, but on the Bakoon it’s kind of draw dropping
