Dealing With DHC

Really lucked out getting mine secondhand lol. Such a shame, he does a fantastic job.

Thatā€™s what Iā€™d do at this point, I just wouldnā€™t want to waste time on it any further or worry about it and consider it a win if at least this cable sells and it likely will, either here or elsewhere.

I finally got my cable about a month or so ago as well, but the ordeal is definitely too much to want to go through again. I wish I knew what causes orders to fall out of his work queue and why itā€™s so goddamn hard to start on them once that happens. I do think he takes the money he gets upfront for granted and I wonā€™t deal with him anymore either.

Have you tried other platforms over email?

I find him to be most responsive over telegram, in fact I havenā€™t tried emailing him before. However I messaged him about the status of a speaker amp adapter cable the other day on telegram and I did not hear back.

Heā€™s responsive to email, at least he was the one time I ordered from him.

I think @Towa is probably right, the problem with any backlog given his model is that he has no incentive to work on items near the back of the queue he already has the funds. Iā€™m sure some of the cables are easier to build than others, and heā€™s going to try to reduce the backlog.
If heā€™s heavily backlogged, his model actually incentivizes doing nothing but responding to the squeaky wheel threatening to charge back.
It is extremely likely that your experience isnā€™t the outlier for the period you ordered.

I donā€™t think there is any malice there, heā€™s just not very organized or disciplined.

Iā€™ve had emailed apologies from him and Trevor at Norne, the big difference is Peterā€™s are usually essay length with a lot of detail, an old insurance investigator friend of mine used to say anytime an some one tries to justify their actions in extreme detail, they are probably the guilty party.

Iā€™ve ordered from him twice now, both times discussing what exactly I wanted over telegram. Heā€™s pretty responsive and helpful narrowing down the configuration of a cable and once he has the funds he makes it sound like the cable will be done quickly. But my first order took about 3 months and my second order is coming up on 2 months.

I like his cables a lot but I just need to go in with the expectation that it will take a while. So if I can wait, I think itā€™s worth it, but if not there are some other cable companies Iā€™d like to try who have faster turnaround times.

Iā€™ve really only had good interactions with him though, the only time he seems to be less responsive is when I ask about the ETA on an order which is understandable as Iā€™m sure he gets that question all the time.

Yep, this is what I am doing and where I am at. I sent an email saying ā€œthe cable is good, I still recognize pieces are missing but at this point forget it, I hope you are able to work on your business model as the delays, non deliverables, and games will prevent me from ordering again.ā€

At this point I have said my peace and am moving on. Hopefully the extra cable sells and even though I sold my Atrium and it us overkill for the LCD-2.2, I can enjoy what I have and be ready for future headphones.

This is all ok, but dont have a big banner that says 4-6 weeks (previously 3-5 weeks).

Agreed, this is very misleading.

He has the ability to change the banner. Have it say something like ā€œdue to unprecedented demand, new cable orders will take 3-6 months.ā€ Make it look like he is in crazy demand and eliminate half the time answering emails asking where things are.

When you seem to be doing anything but managing your business, it probably takes a lot of effort to change a bannerā€™s text.

Damn this thread is savage :joy: all good points though, Peter needs to get an assistant(s) to manage the business side of things while he does the actual cable building, and most of his bad rap would probably dissapate. Not being able to communicate with a customer properly and stringing them along is not the way especially when itā€™s the kind of money his cables typically go for being tied up.

This is why I donā€™t buy cables from him anymore, I just stick to his adapters. I donā€™t mind waiting months for those.

Another thing you have to remember is he probably has a significant number of people asking for refunds. Heā€™d go out of business if he refunded everyone that asks for one. This is still on him though as heā€™s essentially advertising a smaller work load than he actually has.

Itā€™s so very interesting how differently we see things, how much taste varies between people and what we each find absolutely necessary or useful. :face_with_peeking_eye: :star_struck:

Even w/ my glasses, because of the very low light in my home, (i have thick curtains up everywhere and keep all my wooden blinds closed, my frugal senses will not allow me to replace bulbs until they all burn out on each chandelier , etc.) I genuinely canā€™t see well especially close up and fine details. Yes, i have flashlights scattered everywhere to help me. 1- Anyway, my point is that I find L & R color indicators both useful and much desired. Yep, gotta have them and would absolutely request them given the option.

2- Fancy ribs on the mini-XLR connectors, Iā€™m sure these would have looked lovely and had enjoyable sensory sensation to the touchā€¦Couldnā€™t care less :man_shrugging:

3- Ah this bright yellow you speak of  It took me days to finally see the ā€œBright yellowā€ carbon fiber rings, as a matter of fact my lighting is so damned low i almost called you to ask if you might have the rings because i found the silver boring and bland. As a matter of fact minutes before i reached out to you i decided to shine a flashlight directly on the XLR, just to make sure, and :joy:   LOL, low and behold, after days i finally see the stunningly beautiful gold carbon fiber rings which so beautifully match the colorful gold, red and black highlights on the cableā€¦.

@Souldriver , itā€™s so wild how different our experiences can be based on our preferences, taste, character etcā€¦

This fat brute of a cable is gorgeous, Iā€™m so very sorry for your frustrations and how sad the entire experience made you BUT please know I personally could not be more pleased :pinched_fingers: :hugs: thank you most awesome sir!

Well, when you pay for them, they better.

I mean this sincerely and from the heart, but you may the worldā€™s first greek and colorblind vampire :joy:.:vampire:. But if works for you it works.

Do remember this was a pricey cable. Safely in the price range of being able to expect things to follow the order form and the agreed upon options, upon other things.

I am glad it is in a good place now and it equals out to both of us getting a good cable for a deep discount. To be honest you now have more headphones that actually accept that connection and should sound really good with it. I expect more impressions from the bat cave soon.

Oh I UNDERSTAND why you are so upset, Iā€™m just saying I like the bright yellow rings and would love them even more if they were BRIGHTER, and more obnoxiously visible HahahahahašŸ¤£
