Yeah that’s what I meant by things to get first. That money can go to subwoofers and power cables and room treatment as a few examples and then probably better saved for a DAC or speaker upgrade.
Probably the cheapest thing you’re going to buy but it will have the most dramatic effect. I can’t express how much my room treatment has changed the character of my listening room and allowed me to further tweak for improved characteristics.

Yep, the Elgar has dual AES inputs for the matching Purcell upscaler that was released at the same time. It will upsample to 192 or I can use 1394 to get to DSD. It’s an interesting system and so far the sound is quite good for the money so I’m curious how much further I can push it.
The only thing is the Antelope is mostly pro audio and doesn’t really get much exposure in the audiophile world so I’m uncertain of its resale value.
For future reference in this thread - it seems like the firmware update to make wifi operation available never made it and now that it’s discontinued it will never happen. Bridge is ethernet only.

Just picked up a non-APEX Rossini and getting used to it in my chains.
Very special in spatial technicalities: soundstage and particularly imaging and layering are just out of this world. Very detailed but not detail-forward either. Seems like a good next step for someone who wants to move beyond a Chord DAVE/MScaler setup.
Looking forward to testing this against an MPD-8 I have coming in shortly.

Don’t think Dan is very active in this forum but he really like the Rossini and thought it’s a higher performing DAC over the May before it. He did eventually compare it to the Playback Designs MPD-8 and said the MPD-8 was an even better option and ended up selling the dCS.
