One may prefer othersâ interpretations, but this recording is stunning in itâs
clarity and presence. AMHD 24/192 I believe originally recorded as an sacd.
Bruckner 9th Symphony Honeck/ Pittsburgh
A quality recording of 2 Shubert Symphonies on this album.
Recorded in November 2021 and released in 2022.
I like the great clarity and instrument separation.
New version for me that I like very muchâŠwith Jansons and Berlin.
Classic FM had good things to say as well. EMI recording/now Warner group.
NoteâŠcover pic is different than I found on AMHD.
I have the Andsnes too and itâs probably my favorite, although I also like the Murray Perahia recording of the same concertos. I have a few Grieg and a few Schumann piano concertos, not necessarily coupled together, so I should listen to them all and see which I liked the best.
What are your favorite recordings of each concerto?
@PaisleyUnderground I tend to prefer more recent ones, I find, due to the
improved quality of sound, though as Iâve said older Decca and DGs are always
good, imo. Iâve heard and like thePerahia Grieg too, and tried Alice Sara Ott with
Salonen, which is hi res and sounds great, but didnât care for that as much.
For Schumann a minor, I really like Helene Grimaud with Salonen and DresdenâŠon her Reflections album.
I also like the Recording quality of the Rachmaninov (all) done by Valentina
Lisitsa and London, but for artists my absolute fav is Yuja WangâŠher Rach 2
with Abbado is great.amazing touch!..and she KILLS anything Prokofiev. Another fav is Grimaudâs Beethoven 5 with Jurowski and Dresden. Till Fellner also has Beeth 4 and 5 with Montreal and thatâs good as well. Always seems to be a balance for me of performance and recording qualityâŠdang this good headphone gear I bought!!! lol
Big fan. Also, a fan of her collaboration with Olafur Arnalds.
Will look for that, thanks. PS I do like much of Grimaudâs other workâŠagain liking
her touch (heard in detachment or Attachment of notes in a phrase.) Iâm not much
of a pianist but I do enjoy that.
With that, you should definitely check out Olafur Arnalds if you havenât heard of him. His latest album is one of my favorites, including the Piano Reworks.
HmmâŠwith HaniaâŠwill ck this out.
Though not traditional âclassicalâ I suppose, very interestingâŠreflective, and I like the mix of other artists joining him.
His 2023 cut And Weâll Leave it There has a Celtic feel. Will ck that Ott collab too.
Edit: Sorry, the Ott album is definitely more classical in nature. Weâre not snobs,
honest, lol. I also like Snarky Puppy with the Metropole Orkest!!
Apple Music Classical is here - Apple
Itâs up. This is Primephonic with Apple taking credit of course.
If youâre looking for a great search/sort function this is it, imo.
Will be great for those newer to classical music, as they have good
info on music periods/styles and also have podcasts.
Says Android âsoonâ but no mention of Windows.
Iâm very interested to hear comments from those here who try itâŠespecially
regarding the Quality vs other services.
I have no Apple productsâŠcurrently, lol.
Somehow Iâve missed this one before.
Brahms, Wang, Gergiev, MunichâŠstunning qualityâŠyes a bit echoey but
some great camera work.
What a treat!
